Hello,
We arrived into Kuala Lumur on the 22nd October and stayed in a friendly backpacker hostel in the Golden Triangle area for 3 nights. Went to the Petronas Tower skybridge, the KL tower, where we had afternoon tea at 200m in the revolving restaurant. The waiter told us that the glass was strong enough to lie on to take photos, but didn't like to risk it!! Then we went for a walk through littlt India and Chinatown, that was an experience! We also managed to squeze in a trip to the bird park and the orchid garden, it was pretty cool!
We are now in the Cameron Highlands, its so like Scotland it'sstrange! Even cold and wet, which is nice after being in Thailand for so long! Visited a tea plantation and did a bit more treking, think we must be gluttons for punishment, it was going well until Gillon saw a snake and then we decided we had had enough! We also went to a butterfly and insect farm, I even held a scorpion, at arms length mind you!!Gillon didn't he was too scared!! Ha Ha!!
Have been trying some of the local cuisine too, had a steamboat last night, it's like a big pot of boiling soup and you drop bits of meat and veg into and wait for it to cook! Was feeling preety rotten after that cos it's got everything in it, you even break raw eggs into it! Never mind, will try anything once!
Anyway better go pack, off to the rainforest tomorrow!
Take Care,
Jenni x
hi few amendments - i wasnt scared of the scorpion , i was the photographer and the trek was interesting and would ave been a great deal more interesting if we had a proper guide and not jenni trying to read the map upside down! especialy when this morning it was about 35 degrees!
really liked KL - very interesting city and modern in comparrison to thai citys. unfortunately the beer was about 3 pound fifty a pint so not much drinking was done. now in the highlands drinking plenty of tea and enjoying the break from alchool.
looking forward to the rainforest where we plan to do the rope bridge canopy walk and the night safarri! will try and get some photos of the tigers and elephants.
not much else to say at the moment hope everyone is well
gillon
