Jet lag is awful. I am still getting used to the time change.
When we first arrived in London, we were exhausted. We did not really sleep on the plane. When we arrived at Trudy's we took a nice nap and then headed out to walk around London. We got a chance to see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben(the big clock in London), St. James Park, and Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar square is just a big fountain in front of the portrait museum. The gardens in St. james were beautiful. There was an array of many different colors and a nice pond in the middle of the park. After a walk in the park, we ended up going to Sherlock's pub for dinner. When we got there.....tons of people were there. Apparently there is a bank holiday, so we were surrounded by Londoners enjoying the holiday by drinking at a pub or shopping.
In the morning, we got a chance to see the changing of the guards in Buckingham Palace. It was very unique because there was a band that followed the changing of the guards and they played music other than British national anthems. It was a very crowded Ceremony in which it was hard to witness the entire ceremony, but some french people were kind enough to let me see some of it. Then we went to the London Bridge exhibit. In the exhibit, it had information about the london bridge and other bridges around the world (san fran., china, istanbul). Then we went shopping in Leichester square and covent gardens. In covent gardens, they have street performers and shopping. I got a chance to see chain saw juggler, who if your interested, is on facebook as the chain saw juggler with a nice ass. Then I left my pictures in a bag in the bathroom and it got stolen(really sucks). We ended our day at O'Neil's. My favorite pub in London so far (that I remember). The waitstaff was friendly, cheaper beer (for london), and cheaper food (for london). We met a british and a scottish woman at O'Neils. They were very kind to us and even offered to give us a place to stay in scottland if we ever wanted to go.
I absolutely love the British Museum. It has so much history in it from Egyptian to Asian to Greek. It has most of the parthenon in it because of Sir Elgin (he bought the history from the turks and sold the ancient parthenon to British Museum). After a couple hours in the museum...I went shopping down Oxford Street. I wanted to buy so much stuff, but the prices for clothing are a little high. For instance, a shirt in the USA might cost $10 bucks but in England it costs 10£ (which is much higher).
The part about London that confuses me is that the streets are on the side of the building instead of on a pole. It is very hard to navigate the city when you cannot figure out what street you are on.....good thing there are signs that tell you which way to walk.
The most interesting thing I saw was a group of women having an egg race down the street. I have never seen a group of adults running down the street with spoons full of eggs....I have not figured out why they were doing that.
I got a chance to canoe down the thames river with Asia. It was so much fun but hard because I was not used to it that going backwards was easier, until a british woman asked me if it was easier to go forwards.
Next time, i hope to actually see the westminster abbey instead of just the outside. I can say that the outside looks just as good the first time I missed it due to no pounds rather than the second time when i missed it because of time.
Next stop PARIS!!!!
