Gem & Kate go Globel
Hey people!
So it's been a few days since our last message - we have travelled a long, LONG way since then!
We left our first hotel on Wednesday to meet our tour. There are 18 of us - 2 are from Portsmouth and 3 others from Hampshire - what is it they say, you travel half way round the world and bump into people you know (or live near!!)
We had to be up early the first morning to get to the floating markets - they were really cool, had loads of lovely stuff, but neither of us bought anything - I think its safe to say we already loathe our backpacks!!
We headed to the bridge over the river Kwai which was very interesting.
The rest of the day was spent checking out the street markets and the temples before catching a night train to Krabi. It was like a school trip!
So here we are in Krabi - soaking up the sun.
The first thing we did was catch a long boat to another beach along the coast - it was BEAUTIFUL. (Would love to put the pics on now but the computer is a tad bust)
The water was so warm and lovely, that was until we got stung by what we thought we baby jellyfish, but turned out to be water lise - umm nice!
So that brings us to today - which was pretty average - walking through the jungle on the back of an elephant.
It was totally amazing!!
They were so at ease with us all and the keepers seemed to really love their jobs.
We feed them, watched them bath, and loved every minute of it!
Hopefully we will go and see some of the other islands tomorrow and do some snorkelling along the reefs.
So as you can tell we are having a pretty awesome time.
Hope you are all o.k.
Love Kate & Gems
