After our first nite of luxury we had high expectations for our tour....................how wrong could we be. DAy 3, Welcome to the Jungle! I dont really know where to start except from the moment we arrived it bagan to rain and it just didnt stop, in fact i believe one week later it still probably hasnt stopped! What didnt help matters was the fact that my raincoat was in the bottom of my rucksack while chaz had forgotton hers! Not the best start! As we sat gettin drenced on our boat en route to our raft house we were looking forward to a little comfort. Well we got literally a little bamboo raft house floating in the middle of a massive lake! Great! No electricity and the toilet was a 10 minute walk across the lake on floating tree trunks and up into a pitch black hill, needless to say this wasnt the most pleasant experience! But hey, we dealt with it, went on our jungle treks and into the caves all with minimal amounts of complaining!
Next stop in the jungle was Arts riverside lodge, sounds nice........Not at night! Its literally a little cabin in the middle of the jungle and we had an attic in our room and i still belive to this day there is something up there, however neither of us were brave enough to climb the latter into the pitch black to find out! I would like to add that at this point it is still raining! But it wasnt all bad, we went tubing which is where u get into a big rubber ring and float down the river and when its raining so hard it kinda turns into a ride at thorpe park. Nice! We then went Elephant trekking which was cool, we affectionately named our elephant Nick and he took us for a nice ride through the jungle!
To finsh off our stay in the jungle we had a homestay, basically our tour leader abandoned us with a thai family and just left us to it! Wehad some lovely conversation with aeowa who firmly believed that we came from Holland and whenever i looked slightly bored she provided me with some light reading on the history of korea, fascinating! However, i have to say the most pleasant part of the experience was waking up early to venture out of our rooms only to be confronted with unken naked in his front room! really made me feel at home!
Anyway, onto the islands now. Must start praying for some sun!
Lots of Love, missin u all loads.
