Well I was bound to miss something out writing so far back! I missed out Timaru on the coast on the way up to Christchurch! We stopped here to see the Blue Penguin Colony. We were told we could see them here for free if we went a little way up from the Sanctuary. We couldn't see them but we did find a beach that had rare yellow eyed penguins. They didn't come out umtil around 4pm so we wealked down onto the beach & Charlie was startled by a loud grunting behind him. He looked round & it was a great big seal! There were two of them sunbathing on the beach & it was amazing to see them so close with noone else around. They were still there later when we returned to the look out point to see the penguins. We only saw two penguins very far off in the distance but they are quite rare so it was still good to see them waddling up the beach!
