So on our last morning in San Sebastian, after a disorientated search for food we ended up eating cheeseburgers for breakfast at McDonalds . We just needed some greasy hangover comfort food and had no idea where to find it quickly. A very sad end to the awesome SS stay... And then we hit the road back to Bordeaux!
The good thing is, the Bordeaux place was AMAZING. So beautiful and stylish, so chic, so French. In an awesome location too. Through these beautiful antique floor-to-ceiling doors we got out on a nice little balcony with views to the Place du Palais. Down there we could see all the 'normal' people having their drinks at the café tables - hehehe! Really amazing. We almost didn't wanna leave the place. To start with, we were exhausted from the night before, then the place was that cool we just wanted to stay there! And also Paul was bit sick :( He got a bit of a cold and was living on Panadol tea for a little while.
So for the three days in Bordeaux, we spent quite a bit of time in the house. Except for a half-day exploring the vineyards close by, and a little bit of walking around. We went to Margaux, to a wine shop Paul knew from his previous trip. This is not really their thing, but after a bit of chatting and just 'throwing it out there' that we were newlyweds, we were offered a wine tasting! :D A shame that on Saturdays the wine chateaus are closed for visitors :( So we just drove around, took a few pictures, had lunch and headed back to our awesome home :D
One night in Bordeaux we found a nice French restaurant where we got the 'discovery menu' - the chef chooses what you're going to eat. It's all a surprise! Very exciting! :D But he gave us foie gras :( that was a bit sad, 'cause I feel really bad for the poor little goose. It was edible and tasted ok, but I couldn't enjoy it. All other courses were great and we were happy! On another night we had fondue! And on the last day (Sunday) we went out to the fresh food market and bought all sorts of French foods. I cooked a delicious chicken with Pear-and-3-mushrooms sauce. We even had two entrees, it was as French as I've ever cooked! Great stuff.
Now our next destination is ITALY!!! Ci vediamo subito, Italia!
