WEDNESDAY 14TH MARCH TO FRIDAY 16TH MARCH 2007
Arrived in Khota Baru at 4.30am and managed to share a 40 min taxi with another couple to the ferry port t get a speed boat over to Kecil, the smaller of the two islands. This is where mine and Kyms moods polarised-The waves were manic and the boat was bouncing all over the show much to the amusement of me and a few others onboard.Kym on the other hand "had never felt so sick in her entire life" and looked pretty rough! I reckon it might have just been a ploy to get out of her turn to trek about to find accomodation-wouldnt put it past her!
Got some much needed shut eye and then hit the beach in the afternnon. The sun was out and the choppy waves made it perfect 'Baywatch impression' time!
More of the same the next day ended up with Kym getting rather burnt!
On the Friday I left Kym nusing her burns on the balcony and went on a snorkelling trip around the islands. By now the sea had calmed down and the trip was mint.Within the first hour I'd swam alongside 3 different turtles and seen another black tipped reef shark. The corals in the bays and out at coral garden were probably the best Ive seen snorkelling, and we finished off by stopping at a beach which was as beatiful as Maya beach on Phi Phi but not touristy in the slightest. At one point in the day the lads thought it would be funny to throw pineapple at me when I was snorkelling so I had a million fish biting it out of my hair! I think I just about managed to calmy swim away without looking too much like a scared little girl.
Wasnt much to do at night cos the beer was either non existent or expensive so we just ate and watched films: Click, Deja Vu and DREAMGIRLS! on the 3 nights. I still havent forgiven kym-brought back painfull memories of being dragged to see Evita when I was a kid
