Yesterday was a highlight day with an early flight to Buffalo and taxi to Niagara Falls. After dropping our bags at the hotel we walked across the Rainbow bridge to the Canadian side.
There was something exciting about walking across the border . We had previously obtained a visa for Ket to enter Canada for a few hours... When one of the questions they asked was how we were going to support ourselves in Canada... I had resisted the temptation to reply ... With a bottle of water and a sandwich. My experience is that immigration officers are the least fun people on the planet... I feel sorry for their families.
Anyway, Niagara Falls is one of the greatest places I have ever been. The sky was blue and the water based spectacle was magnificent.
We took the Maid of the Mist boat ride right up into the eye of the Horseshoe Falls. This is the most powerful display of nature I have ever seen. I do not think I will forget the image of Ket standing on the deck with this mountain of water behind her. It shimmered white and grey like a cascading thunder cloud. The power in the fall was indescribable and I felt privilidged to be close to this awesome phenomena again. We should really save the word "awesome" for such special occasions.
This was a very special day especially to return later to the edge of the horseshoe falls where I had stood in exactly the same place ... Entranced by the flow... 27 years ago.
We walked some more and enjoyed being In ponchos in what had become a drizzly afternoon.
On return to the Us , when asked was I bringing anything back from Canada I cheerfully replied " sore feet"..... Not even a smile in response... I thought it was quite good... Nether the less I need to understand that the camera might have been on and he might have been concerned about losing his job for smiling at a friendly member of the public!!!
We walked home and passed out not even waking for dinner... What a wonderful day and I was so pleased Ket shared my view that this was a wonderful place,
