1st-DAY 1 So we've finally got to the world renowned 11th Hour Cinema Hostel in a shady back alley, who's film collection consisted of about three films, one of which was a Russian translated Mr Smith Goes to Washington. After a hyper minibus journey, where we marvelled at the fact that Budapest actually had a Tesco, we dumped our stuff and went out for a look around.
After going out for a walk along the Danube and sitting under the Elizabeth Bridge with beers costing about a quid, and all taking about a million photos each of the National Art Gallery, we're now chilling in our room listening to 212 on repeat as well as Sean trying to saw his padlock off one of the lockers that he's forgotten the combination to. Boss.
Frank straight away made himself at home and set the tone for the trip by draping his North Korea flag over the balcony of our room, which we're all still trying to work out exactly why he brought it.
2nd-DAY 2 Today we managed to successfully get up and out before 12 to see the sights and took loads of pictures of some of the same things we saw last night, only in daylight.
We managed to get round more or less every single sight in the city despite it taking about six hours and causing a lot of blisters. First we went to St. Stephen's Basilica which was amazing, especially when we got to go to the top where you could see the entire city for miles around. We then found some outdoor pool thing where we sat and chilled for a few hours before seeing the Parliament building and crossing the bridge to Buda to see St. Matthias church and the castle before getting back, knackered.
When we finally got back, Scott was waiting for us straight from Rock Werchter and one of the lads working in the hostel, who looks the spit of Ste Ecott, started giving us free vodka and took us and everyone in the hostel out to a local bar. After paying 500 HUFs entry we got three free beers AND karaoke, which we took over for the night, obviously. Madness, The La's and The Human League all made appearances before we finished the night in the best way to finish a night, with a gyros.
3rd-DAY 3 We attempted to get up early today to go to Szechenyi baths. But after last night everyone was feeling horrendous and so instead we got a Burger King and listened to 212 on loop. Finally, we got to the baths at about 5:00pm, which were brilliant and worth the tenner for the ticket despite some of the pools being hotter than the sun. Fallon broke out his new, loose fitting shirt that he bought in attempt to look more like a 'traveller' when really it just makes him look like Gangrel.
Everyone's knackered now, and poor, so we're having a night in with some beers and pizzas and playing Foosball all night.
