Just a quick update to tell you where we are and what we are doing.
Well we haven't been able to go to Fiji , which was at first very disappointing, but we are staying here in the US and we are really enjoying it! We shall be spending Christmas and the New Year, Gary's 50th (Larry's birthday is on the same day!) and our Wedding Anniversary with Dawn and her family, which is very kind of them to say the least - but that's the great people they are! We will fly to New Zealand on 1st January.
We have done so much in the last couple of weeks it is hard to know where to begin! Our trip around the States of Arizona, Utah and Nevada ended in seeing Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and Las Vegas, which was momentous.
We returned to Dawn's, where we have been rounding up cattle on Larry's ranch with Larry (well... Gary has, Dee stood at the sidelines cheering on as she didn't want to get her new boots dirty...) we've been target shooting (as Larry is a gun enthusiast and has been showing him his Magnum 45, the most powerful handgun known to Gary) , putting up our Christmas tree in the "homestead', claiming 'Squatters Rights' (we really like it in the cottage) and eating Larry's beef until it comes out of our ears (the one Gary didn't round up).
We have since borrowed Dawn's pick-up and driven down to LA and San Diego, now clocking up 2754 miles since we've been here. As petrol is only 1.50 dol a gal. Gary doesn't mind...).
We have visited Universal Studios Hollywood which was fantastic, it was really quiet on the day we went (did they know we were coming?) so we managed to do every ride, we took a tour of the Queen Mary at Long Beach LA and then went to the world famous San Diego Zoo which was absolutely brilliant. We had no idea there were so many endangered species, which is very sad, but seeing so many was wonderful - the pandas especially! We have a picture on the website of someone who reminded Dee of Gary, (the silverback Gorilla, well Gary's hair is nearly the same colour, but I suppose he's a bit better looking... just).
Well we are now staying in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, negotiating 6 lane freeways in LA rush hour on the way, which is a bit scary, and we are off to do some Christmas Shopping. Dee is estatic and Gary is really looking forward to it (not). He may buy a 10 gallon hat to go with his new image as a cowboy. The weather has been so good to us, we've hardly seen a cloud in the sky, which is handy as other parts of the US are under 10ft of snow....
We're finding it difficult to load photos on the website, so we've only added a few and updated a few...we will update our site next in New Zealand - where we will have more memories to share with you - so please stay with us on our Walkabout or Driveabout, as it's turned out to be.
All that remains is to tell you all that we miss you and we hope you all have a very good Christmas and a happy New Year. We will be thinking of you XXXX
Lots of love and hugs across the ocean, Dee and Gary XXXX
