We are having such a good time. The weather is fantastic, it's hot, hot, hot. Sweating up a storm. Better than freezing!
The hotel is amazing, it's big but it doesn't seem big. Only 60% capacity so it's not busy and plenty of sunbeds on the huge beach. We've seen crabs, lots of birds, a huge stingray, lots of starfish, and we are serenaded every evening by the symphony of tree frogs, it's hard to describe but it's so soothing and relaxing.
We met up with our friend Jango today, after 15 years he hasn't changed much except he's older (like we are) and greyer (like we are too) but he's still the same Jango. We took him for lunch, he chose the restaurant because he's Rastafarian and he doesn't eat meat - so we go where the locals eat. It was an amazing lunch we talked and talked and then walked back to "the Best in the West Jerk Chicken" shack along the road and chatted there for about 3 hours. Jango's son Sheldon joined us there too - he works at the other RIU up the road - yesterday while Kira and Alex were in the kayak in the bay a young man came up to me and asked if I was Jango's friend so I said yes and he said I'm Sheldon. He recognized me from pictures we sent Jango a couple of months ago. Nice to meet him, he's a very nice young man who is studying to be a Dive Master so he and Alex have lots to talk about.
We've sort of planned some excursions, we want to go to the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary and Mayfield Falls on Thursday so tomorrow is beach day - we may walk the bay from one end to the other depending on whether it's +33 tomorrow or not...... want to check out the vendors on the beach too. The only thing I've seen that I'd really like to get is a really neat wood vase but it's way too expensive. Hoping to find one comparable either at the vendors on the beach or downtown.
Loving every minute of our vacation so far, it's so comfortable, it's almost like being "home". Everyone is so kind and open.
Enough for today, will post more soon.
