So, a few thoughts from Paris...
First of all, I must confess though I chose the Eiffel Tower as my picture, I have not actually been to it yet! A month I know, but I'm trying to avoid the super touristy places. I went to the Champs Elysee this weekend with my mom and almost got run over by all the people trying to sell me little figures of the Arc de Triomphe or pictures of the Mona Lisa and have decided to avoid these areas for awhile. Instead I have picked up some very important tidbits about the French in general.
1. Bread is the cheapest thing you will ever buy in Paris. Fresh, crunchy baguettes straight from the oven are generally one euro or less, quite less than a bottle of water which will probably cost you 2, I do not have a problem with this.
2. Yes French people do eat all the amazing pastries and crepes and bread constantly, but no, they do not gain weight. Do not ask why, it does not make sense.
3. Razor scooters, which I loved back in elementary school but seemed to think had gone out of "style" are back in full force in the fashion capital of the world. Yes, I have seen grown men in business suits scootering to work, and yes I laugh every time.
4. Dogs here are numerous. Paris apparently boasts one of the highest ratios of dogs to people in the world (true fact). However, they are all tiny, many of the purse-toting size and almost always clothed. Two weeks ago I saw a little terrier in a red cape.
5. Finally, haha this actually isn't a reflection on France but I think I live next to a drug den or a brothel. This is actually quite random since I live in the "rich suburbs" of Paris populated by the nouveau rich which is generally a beautiful place to live, even if I can't afford to buy or eat anything here. However, just a couple doors down from me is a tanning salon which I never really noticed until I walked home three nights in a row after 10 pm and it was PACKED, I'm talking multiple people waiting outside in the street packed. Now, whenever I walk home there are around 3-5 arab guys standing outside by their motorcycles in front of the door. Now I'm not trying to be sexist or racist but do these men really need their fake spray tan? Somehow I doubt it. Anyways, counting down the days for the drug bust.
Love you all! Je vous adore
