He fled Tibet in 1992 and has seen his father only once since, in Tatopani, near the Tibetan border he cannot go back as he is an illegal immigrant and thus has no I.D. so he would be arrested immediately and his parents are uneducated and too poor to pay someone to sort out their moving to Nepal. the Chinese government is threatening them at the moment, saying their son must come back to China or they will start prosecuting them... All this explained to me with the most disarmingly genuine and simple smile...
