As the night falls, the butter lamps light up, ready for Dipawali / Tihar celebrations. Despite the fact that Buddhanath is mostly a Tibatan Buddhist area, Hindus and Buddhists live in perfect harmony and respect of each others traditions. Sonam and I joined Nepalese in the celebrations of Tihar by dancing all night long in the streets next to big lorries loaded with giant speakers and local bands performing traditional Nepali and Hindi songs. And BOY they can sing, and they can dance!
