So from Rio De Janeiro we decided to go straight to Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil (on the border of Argentina and Paraguay) on a 23 hour bus ride, missing out Sao Paulo. The bus ride was pretty horrible but not as bad as I had imagined, I was tired from hectic Rio so managed to sleep through a good 10 hours of it.
The only reason we came to Foz do Iguaçu was to see the infamous Iguaçu falls so we spent a full day just paying the park entrance fee and did a DIY tour of the falls. They really are incredible and were not a dissapointment at all. From the Brasilian side you get a nice grand overview of the falls, we were heading over to the Argentinian side for a few days after this to do a few of the tours.
We stayed at Bambu Hostel, a really nice, reasonable and clean Hostel with a full bar and swimming pool and the rooms weren´t bad at all. However, we found the male stuff to be quite rude and unhelpful...but the women were nice. Cést la vie.
Not much more to say on Foz do Iguaçu other than, with hingsight from being on the Argentinian side - Puerto Iguazu, that it is not worth staying on both sides. All you need is to stay on the Argentinian side (Puerto Iguazu) for 3 nights, do a full day on this side then do the day trip to Paraguay and Brasil.
