Sorry for the long delay, the time seems to be flying by.
We had a wonderful time at the rodeo. It was very professional and we saw lots of different riders on horses and on bulls and they all seemed very capable but they all ended up on the floor!
From here we travelled to las Vegas and had a very enjoyable evening wandering up and down the strip in the evening. The light displays are amazing and we saw the Eiffel tower and the pyramids as well as the statue of Liberty and of course the pirate ship that we saw many years ago was still there !!!! There are water displays that make you gasp, especially the one which was done to music. We didn't leave until about midnight to go back to the RV park where we had camped, it was a 45 min bus ride from the centre and only cost £9 for the night, this included the swimming pool, hot tub and there was a vast library of books to exchange .you may not like the gambling but you have to wonder at the whole place!!!
It wasn't too far from there to Death valley national park. This is super hot in the summer but was a very pleasant temp for us . It is a vast area that is stunning in it's severe landscape that was mountainous with sand dunes and empty lake beds. We spent the night with a spectacular view of the scrubland for miles and miles .
Leaving here we made our way north and came to Yosemite. The contrast was fantastic with snow capped mountains and beautiful canyons. The views and scenery were amazing and we spent a wonderful 2 days exploring and camping in the park.
From Yosemite we headed towards the coast and towards San Francisco.
We were so lucky to catch up with Cheryl and Mick and after finding a reasonably priced hotel we spent 3 days exploring the city . We went to Alcatraz which was great. We spent several hours exploring the island and absorbing the history. We travelled on the buses and trams and of course the cable cars with Terry and Mick hanging off the side as you see in the films, great!!!!
we met up with Oliver and had a lovely lunch which was really nice.
Sunday we crossed the bridge in the fog and wandered thought the napa valley. We didnt do the wine tasting but the prices of the wine in the local shops was amazing and we bought some!!!!!
We pottered up through California seeing fantastic scenery and enjoying the sun and the warmth. The coastline is very pretty but the sea mists were daunting and we came inland.
Crossing into Oregon was a real daylight. We have met some amazing people. Marques knocked on our window when we were parked and this led to us spending 3 days in Cave junction where we made new friends and were introduced to the wilderness which is really jaw dropping. We spent nights on peoples drives and were offered amazing hospitality. Marques and Debbie fed us and let us take hot showers!!! As well as showing us their wonderful country.John and Christine introduced us to their alpacas which was a real treat and we even got to watch 'yes minister'!!!!!
We reluctantly left and headed for Crater Lake. This is a stunning crater with the deepest lake in the USA. it was so fantastic to sea and we did a free snow shoe walk with a ranger who told us all about the local wildlife. The snow was about 14 feet deep and apparently doesn't clear until AUGUST!!!!!
we are currently in Bend and , no surprise waiting for a new half shaft to be fitted. Happily we are in a local state park and have been doing lots of lovely walks. We are so impressed with Oregon it is so nice and as usual the people are amazing. Hopefully we will continue on our way tomorrow and will be heading up to mount Hood and the canyon region near Portland
