Okay....so flew into Delhi last night 11pm- local time! First thing we did was met the guy picking us up to take us to the hostel. Even at that time it was so hot, and in the midst of our faces melting down our chests we thought, seriously....why did I pack so much stuff!! Did we forget we would be carrying it all on our backs, yes apparantly we did!!!
The drive to the hostel was pretty scary to say the least. Delhi roads don't usually have road markings on, but they have recently done it for the Commonwealth Games in October. Let's just say they need a little more practise at staying in the lines!!! Arrived at hostel which is basic, but okay. Not much sleep as we were scared, plus it was mega boiling and sounded like a helicopter was landing in the room with the fan on. Woke up this morning for our first day in Delhi. Our fourth member Hannah joined us at 11am and we left the hostel in search of an adventure. I can't even describe some of the sights we saw. There were homeless people on every corner, people begging for money, men starring, men trying to sell us things, cows and goats loose on the streets, rubble and mud everywhere- it was absolutely crazy!!! We got scammed a couple of times on day trips and ricksures, but soon found a nice tourist place and booked an 18 day tour around Agra and Rajastan starting from tomorrow morning at 7am. First stop Agra.
Will write again soon. Nic xxx
