g'day well I haven;'t updated this for ages since peru and I've done 6 countries since then so I will give you the edited highlights of each place so you can all stop telling me off for being lazy!
OK so when I last wrote I was in cusco in Peru which was just the best city so cool and a proper party town, not that I really got drunk or anything silly like that, I certainly never stayed out to stupid o clock in the morning and was in bed by 9pm everynight mwhahaha!! So from Cusco we went to Lake Titicaca which is a very very big pnd with many an island on them. The night we spent on an island we did a homestay where we stayed with a family. Was sligjhtly wierd as our mum didn't speak any spanish or english and the dad's was a bit ropey so we had to communicate via our little sisters (who were very cute buit not as cute as big bum, ligworm and mouse) the island was pretty dam cold but we ate in their kitchen (actually the one roomed house) carb fest a meal of pasta, rice anc potatoes. they then dressed us in traditinal peruvian dress (5 skirts I looked like a hippo) and wnet to the town hall for the disco whuich inviolved a lot of (very bad peruvian dancers) after that party I really wasin bed by 9 pm! the next day we went to the floating islands which are made out of straw which were very cool! I have no photos cos my camera died! oops!!
From Peru we went to bolivia which was probably my least favourite place I have been so far but the mugging may have had soemthing to do wirh that! La Paz was a pile of poo I was soo disappointed! the witches market was literllay one street with a few old ladies on stalls selling incense... there I was trying to pick up a lurve potion or a voodoo doll (no guesses who that would be for hahaha) but no chance, could have bought a lama fetous tho. From there we took a milion hour train to Uyunai where we were to spend three days in 4by4s driving round the salt flats and the desert! the salt flats were awesome, basically a giant lake made of salt where there is no perspective so you could take really awesome photos (the pics are on the book) so that was cool! but it was a lot of days sat in a car driving for hours to get out and look at a lagoon or a stone tree. and we stayed in really basic places made of stone or salt that with no electricity or heating. I have never been sooo cold in my life it was like minus 15 and colder! the last day I actually tghought I was gonna die of cold!!
the rest of bolivia was pretty not memorable, trying to think about what we did but can't really remember! I just remember our mental nights in Sucre with my red wine buddy (I was forced to drink so much merlot, we had normally got thru at least a bottle and a half before our starter arrived) oh and gigantic cocktails that were meant for 6 but drunk between the two of us!! oh and karaoke! I got to sing yeah!! and the gay disco that we ended up in - always the gay disco eh maxwell??? hehe but I can't drink a glass of red now without thinking of mr hoarder and the two very very drunken nights in Bolivia!
From Bolivia to BRazil, where our first stop was the pantanal the giant swamp land where we spent two night sleeping in hammocks it was awesome. we went on safaris and saw giant otters, giant anteaters, caimen loads of stuff. We spent the best day I've had on this trip pirhana fishing (I'm really f***ing good between 16 of us we caught 17 fish of which I caught 7 thank you very much). We got to eat them for dinner they were amazing tasted just like KFC, I think the colonel was hiding in the lake!! the afternoon we went horse riding which was very cool, it was like something at a cowbiy film at the end galloping into the sunset! awesome.
From Pantanal to Bonito, which like its name was very very beautiful, we spent the day there snorkelling and it was v v pretty. after there we went to iggausu the big big waterfalls on the brazil / argentine border. the brazil side was pap but the argentinain side was awesom, we got in a boat and went right under the fall! it was sunny and the sun made rainbows bounce of the water. and there were loads of racoon type animals scurrying around which were v v cute! we also went to paraguay for the day which was a s*** hole! don't go there!! it was while in iguassu that we found out that MJ was dead, sad times so we danced a thriller tribute on top of a waterfall, we were truely aweful at it!!
after iguassu it was on to ilha grande, a lil island which was like a little bit of paradise it was sooo sooo beautiful. we spent the day on a boat going round, playing football on the beach and drinking caprhinas (sadly some of us drank a few too many caiprinhas while on the boat and struggle to remember the later part of the afternoon, where said person was apparently pole dancing around the edge if the boat, trying to drive boat and generally being a bit rowdy. some people have no self control!!
from paradise to Rio, copacabana beach to be precise awesome just wish it had been warmer as it was a tad nippy on the beach! loads of fun tho, we went to the favella (slums) which were really cool but a bit scary, so guys if you hear a loud bang hit the floor as it means a gun fight is starting between the drug dealers! ok!! luckily no guns but the drug dealers were pretty scary looking! We went to a street party in lapa that was cool and had a few quiet nights in the hostel bar. I never made it up to see christ the redeemer which was pretty lame, but hey I've heard he dioesn't look a thing like jesus (but he talks like a gentleman, like you remember... well you know the words!)
Rio to BA, I took a v hungover flight (I wish people would stop spiking my drinks) to Buenos Aires the BEST city in the world. It is actually the city that never sleeps (I found NY NY was all shut down by about 3,thats when the party starts here). I was there for a week and only made it sight seeing twice, but I went to Boca a v pretty little town with one of Argebntinas best footie clubs tho the ground wasn't a patch on WHITE HART LANE. the other time I went to the cemetry and saw evitas grave and to the botanical gardens which were v pretty! But BA is all about the party party party! oh and the football, i wen to the champions league final, was so excited when I got the re the atmosphere was awesome, big flares, crazy fans, but the football was complete toilet! cove youth play better and I think Chang could have run rings round all the players, the tactic of the game was to foul every minute so no flow bad times :( thats 50 squids I'll never see again!! I don't think I went to bed in BA before 6 / 7 am once, the highlight being pacha which was v cool! oh and the steak! 800grams of dead cow oozing blood onto your plate! my god I was in food heaven! steak, red wine! beautiful I could have died then as the steak was the pinnacle of my life!
I finally made it out of BA to spend a couple of nights in mendoza... wine region!! we spent a day riding bikes courtesy of Mr Hugo, from winery to winery sampling the finest of argenitina wines... no one told me your meant to spit, I'm more of a swallower so I ended up getting a wee bit tipsy, but its fine, the last stop was a choccie and liquor factory where you get a police escort back to Mr hugos! the amount of wine did not stop me howeer from having one last slap of cow!! yum!!
From Mendoza to Chile where I spent my one day in Santiago doing what I do best (no not eating) SHOPPING! I needed warm clothes for NZ winter and I found the biggest shopping mall right at the other end of the city where they had so many clothes! I was restrained tho only purchased a coat and a cardie and a hoodie which I have used all of so its fine!! happy days!
I then got the worst flight ever to Auckland the turbulence was horrendous and we flew into a storm! bad times I thought we were going to crash!! boo!! made a bit of a booboo on my first day where I went for an afternoon nap at 1 planning to get up and hit the bar in the evening... woke up at 2am!! bad times. Ispent the next day going up the sky towere which was very cool andthen in the evening saw my mate jarrod that I used to work with when I was a wee 21 year old media virgin!
So on Monday I started my kiwi experience a big bus that takes you round the country. The first day involved a lot of driving and then a stop in the hostel, where most people had a nice early night. some people however (well two people) thought it was a good idea to neck several bottles of wine and somehow managed to get locked in the kitchen for the night! bad times!! sevearl hours after being locvked in said drunk people discovered a rout out of the kitchen through the laundrey room window! was not feeling my best the next day to the point I can't actually remember what we did except for going for a wal in some woods with redwoods (which I found odd that no one had seen a redwood before, being that there are millions of them next to mummy's house) and playing here we go round the mulberry bush!! we then got to the hostel which had a heated pool! heaven! hot pool in the rain love it! that evening we went to a traditional mauri village where they put on a bit of a show and fed us! photos to come soon! they take it v seriously and your not allowed to smeil when they do the welcome dance, unfortunately the dance involved women doing wailing up trees, was trying so hard not to laugh I think a little bit of wee may have come out!
yesterday we wnet to a farm show in the morning where yours truely got on stage and milked a cow by hand! was very cool, but I'm not sure my future career lies in being a milk maid as not a lot of milk came out! From there we went zorbing (getting in a giant ball with water in and rolling down a hill) was very cool! would recommend it! then in the evening it was time to go to the bar! I was actually v good last night tho and had an early night cos this morning I was going white water rafting. you go into these tunnels and have rubber tubes to float along in, and you can see glow worms (which are actually magghots with glowing poo) it was awesome but so so cold! We then drove to Taupo which is where I am now, tomorrow I am going to jump out a plane with a parachute attahced (I hope) awesome!
Thats all folks will try not to leave it so long next time!
Loads of love
