Wednesday was a rest day (yes, I know) and so nothing significant to mention.
Today (Thursday 8/1/2015) we spent at the Manifa Elephant Camp, riding and helping wash the Elephants.
This place is about 25 to 30 kilometres out of LP and is near the Pak Ou Caves, albeit on the opposite bank of the Mekong.
We had four separate rides in total - one involving Des and I in a Howdah on the one Elephant and the other three being individual 'bare-back' rides. This included one ride down and into the River to help wash 'our' Elephants.
We have a great deal of respect for these animals as they are so patient and gentle but at the same time capable of being very dangerous if they are pushed beyond their limits. All they seem to need is to have plenty of food and not be overworked or overheated.
Many photos are, or will be, in the Photo Section soon. The Blog Site Owners are updating their Servers at present so that will disrupt things.
We are off to Vang Vieng by Bus tomorrow morning too - 6 or 7 hour drive apparently - so we will be off the air for a while it seems.
Hope all is well with you.
Cheers,
