Little Chloe's intrepid traveller guide!
Hi guys!
Sorry ive been a bit slack recently! Have been getting rather lazy, i know.
Am now on an island called Morro São Paulo, and its wicked!!! There are no cars, no pavements-should have thighs like wonderwoman by the time i leave(!), theres just one parade of shops and restaurants in town, and men use wheelbarrows as taxis!! Its so idyllic-words cannot describe!
Have met a great group of people-inc. the first other 18yr old girl from england! How exciting is this!!However she is travelling with a couple of friends-not as hardcore as me! Went out last night, drank way too many cocktails and no feel absolutely terrible. Was a great night tho! Met someone here, who i met in my first week travelling in BA- how weird is that!!!small world. . . Nobody from norwich yet tho.
Got here by catamaran, twas a bit choppy i can tell u! Was adamant on sitting out the front to catch some rays, and got absolutely drenched. which was nice.
Left salvador on wednesday - i love salvador as a city, but its by far the dodgiest and poorest area ive been to so far. People constsantly hassle u, and while some are ok, the rest are really pushy, and rude and just basically wont leave you alone. They always want to sell u something, or take your food/drink- which is fair enough really as theyre all starving. There was one little boy, who was about 7 at the most, who was begging- found out later he actually used this money so he could buy drugs! There was another boy, of about 14 who was always begging too, but we never gave him any money until later we saw him by himself, picking through disgusting leftover scraps in the streets where everyone wees. Its very hard emotionally when these kids are so young, with no money, probably no family, and basically no prospects. Nothing will change for these people, but theres nothing that i can do for all of them.
At the mo im sitting an internet cafe where a gecko has just launched itself up the wall half decapitating a cockroach! mmnn. . . . (had to leave that internet cafe, so im writing this bit from somewhere else!)
Spent the last 3 days trying to convince myself that there are no cockroaches here, only to find one in the bathroom last night, and almost passed out.
Today im getting the boat back to salvador, from where i get a flight to São Paulo- at midnight- then at 5pm, i get another flight to santa cruz, bolivia!!woo!
Love u all!!
My next entry will be from bolivia!!
Besos, Chloé
