Sarah's European Adventure
Hello everyone!
I've been in Spain about 4 days and am working hard to get myself settled. I live with a wonderful senora who speaks absolutely no English, but is very nice and has alot of patience with my language skills. Her apartment is absolutely gorgeous and she's a great cook, but makes me eat lots of food. That will take some getting used to, especially since they eat barely anything for breakfast, a big lunch at 2 or 3, a little snack at dinnertime, and then dinner at 9 or 10. Lunch and dinner are each three courses, and they eat bread with everything. They don't go to bed until well after midnight, so I guess the late dinner is necessary.
For now the group from my school takes intensive spanish classes, but regular classes at my university begin february 1st. Hopefully by then I'll be refreshed in my spanish enough to write several page papers, but we'll see.
The other kids from my school are all really nice and a great relief from constantly hearing Spanish. Hopefully once classes begin I'll meet some Spanish students to hang around with as well.
If I don't get online much, it's because Spain is in a race with Portugal to see who can catch up with Europe the fastest, but let's just say they have a long way to go.
If you want to get postcards send me your email address, or if you're in Europe and want to visit let me know. I can guarantee you will love Madrid, and even though I haven't seen the rest of Spain yet, I hear every part is different but amazing.
I have so much to say and so little time to do it, but I miss you all and be sure to keep in touch and let me know what's going on in your worlds!
