Hello There!!!!!Wednesday 2 -Sunday 6 May:Well it's been an interesting few days since I landed in the USofA. My 14 hrs flight was pretty good except for the ice-cream experience where it was sooo cold that it removed skin from my lip (I felt like the guy out of dumb and dumber who stuck his tongue to the ski lift). As soon as I landed in LA I caught a train (3 hours) to San Diego and checked into the USA Sandiego Hostel. The jet lag was pretty ordinary as I had landed 3 hours before I had even left Australia so I really needed to sleep. As it was only mid afternoon I did not want to got to bed and spend the next several hours sleeping only to wake up in the early hours of the morning, so I opted to have a couple of hours sleep and then join the hostel's Wednesday night pub crawl (as they say 'when in Rome'). The pub crawl kicked off at 8:30pm and involved lots of $1US spirits and $1-$1.50US Beers. To cut a long story short I was well and truly ready for a kip when I laid my head on the pillow at 1/2 after midnight. I slept like a baby until 7:30am and thought that my jet lag problems had been resolved, but that wasn't to be.Spent the next couple of days not doing a lot, but sleeping, reading and researching Mexico. My jet lag was certainly not squashed by the pub crawl and so I felt like I was a walking zombie half the time (as of yesterday I thought I was suffering insomnia).I have decided that I will invest in a flight to Mexico as I don't really want to see much between the north and half way down. It was pretty much the same price as the bus and rather than 41 hours on a bus, I only have to spend 3 hours on a plane from Los Angeles (LAX) to get to Guadalajara. Because of my change of plans I thought that I would join the Tijuana tour from the hostel that runs every Saturday night (originally I said that I didn't want to spend time in Tijuana but as this was an organised tour with lots of others I decided to see the unauthentic Mexico). It was very cheesy but lots of fun (refer to photo album HINT watch it on slide show) and everything was pretty cheap, especially the beer at $1us a pop for a Corona. The tequila shots are an experience but that is a long story, the crossing of the border is hilarious but yet again a long story, at 96% alcohol Moonshine should just not be allowed and just being in Tijuana on a Saturday night with 25 other backpackers is an experience, no matter how lame, not to be missed. The food was fab and I'm now a bit worried that Mexico will make me fat, with both the cheap beer and the fab guacamole and churros (Spanish donuts) it could be all down hill from here.Monday 7th May:-Now I am in Santa Monica. Met a guy from Melbourne who is working here until the end of May so I am hanging out in his apartment 1 block from the beach for a couple of days (life is hard I know but someone has to do it). Got to love being on holidays with no plans where you can decide to go anywhere at anytime. Today the sun was shining and apparently a very hot day for May. Walked along the beach and along the Santa Monica Pier. Drank a very large coffee and read my book.Bye for now and my next blog should come from midway down the pacific coast of Mexico (but hey who knows I could end up in Canada).Until next time Luv Fi xxxx
