On our way back north to Aptos we stayed in Kettleman. Pretty much just a rest stop of a town. The temp was about 95 at 6:30 pm when we arrived. After being stuck in LA traffic we were looking forward to a nice cool room. Unfortunately the ac in the room was broken. We ended up moving to another room.
This morning we packed up the car for a three hour drive to Aptos. The air outside was stiflingly hot and stank of a ripe garbage can. As we drove further north along the desolate I-5 corridor, the smell got so bad we had to close the vents. As we crested a hill off to the right we found the source of the odor. I rolled the window down to take a picture as Finn dry heaved, and Bryan and Keegan hacked. After securing the photo and the windows were rolled up our nostrils and throat continued to burn. Sincerely looking forward to leaving the arm pit of California.
