Hello - Long time no update so here goes ...
The last week in Uganda was spent in the South West corner where we visited the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, paddled our way around its islands in a dug-out canoe (getting lost only once) and stayed in a Geodome surrounded by hundreds of birds. We passed through Jinja on the way back to Nairobi stopping for a tasty meal with the AV volunteers and our first glass of wine for 6 weeks.
Spent a couple of days in Nairobi visiting the elephant orphanage and feeding giraffes at the Langata Giraffe centre. On the Monday (13th) we met 'Shaggy' - our home, transport and kitchen for the next 5 weeks (in other words a big yellow overland truck), inhabited by 6 kiwis, 3 ozzies and 6 brits. After a day of bumpy driving we arrived in Arusha Tanzania from where we visited the Ngorongoro crater and saw lion, hippos, elephants, buffalo, zebras and numerous other furry creatures.
Next we headed south to Dar es Salaam and have now just finished a 4 day break on Zanzibar, going on a spice tour and exploring the streets of stone town followed by 3 days at the beach including a snorkelling trip to the reef.
This afternoon we shall be getting the ferry back to the mainland and then it's 2 days of driving to reach Malawi.
