Thursday, 22nd December
Up at 4:30am to get the room packed up, just managed to squeeze everything in inc the new hammock. Crazy mini van driver somehow managed to get us to Trang without crashing, we had time before the next bus to grab some breakfast then headed to Satun. We had to pay for our overstay which was 10 pounds a day then got the ferry and slept all the way to Langkawi. We arrived at the Kuah jetty and got a taxi to Pantai Cenang, accomadation is a bit thin on te ground but a lady at one place let us leave our bags so we could have a proper look around. We found The Palms guest house which is a small courtyard of rooms, ours has a hot showerand aircon which we we're happy about as it's pretty hot here, bit over budget at 20 pounds a night but it's Christmas!
Wednesday, 23rd December
We both slept til pretty late then went to have a look at the beach and around town. Found the Duty Free and an Internet place we could upload photos pretty quickly on, so I got my whole Thailand album on Facebook. Almost a disaster with not being able to get any money out, the ATM's here aren't great with foreign cards. We ended up having to go to the airport where after trying 3 different ATM's a number of times it finally worked, phew!! Nice Chinese for supper with Rich and Maninda
Thursday, 24th December
Hired a bike today and set off with Rich and Maninda to see the Wells and Waterfalls which I think are called 'Jaga Kebersihan Kawasan Rekreasi Anda' or so the sign said. Felt so unfit walking up the 300 steps not used to all this exercise. Went back to the cable car which was closed due to high winds this morning but were told the wait would be around 2 hours so we had some lunch and headed to the top on the bikes, much more adventurous and amazing views from the top of near-by Islands. The others all went Karting on the way back, I got the action shots. The Christmas bbq that Dave and Sue put on for us was really good fun and got us all feeling a bit more Christmasy. The food was pretty good with lovely potato. Went for a late night swim, lots of people on the beach as well as a Malay guy dressed as Father Christmas who we had a photo with.
Friday, 25th December
Possibly the laziest Christmas Day ever. It was so hot we got up, had breakfast, opened our pressies, Tom got the new Jack Higgins book and I got the ring I loved in Laos. Said our Merry Christmas' to everyone, read for a bit then headed back to bed. Once up in the afternoon we had a few drinks then headed out with Jonny and Jess to get some supper. We found a great place by the beach, they lit lanterns which went up in the sky and candles that went out to sea. George from our place (smelly feet) was there so we all had a few drinks and a lovely meal then some Christmas day photos on the beach. Managed to speak to Matt and Bec and skyped Mum and Dad and Al which was funny seeing all the decorations up at home and Al's family round the table. A good Christmas Day.
Saturday, 26th December
Moochy day today, went for a walk by the sea and tried out a more traditional restaurant called Tomato Nasi Kandar with Jess, Jonny, 2 of their friends, Ross and Sasha cheap and cheerful. On the way back we booked our bus for 28th and phoned Linds and Matt Lynch. Saw the funniest gecko with it's head stuck in the wall, it managed to get free in the end.
Sunday, 27th December
Much the same as yesterday, rained for 20 minutes in the evening, went for a Chinese with Jess and Jonny and got some great lightening shots in the evening on the beach.
