Rome, Italy
Ciao,
I had a great day today because I visited the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Did you know that the Colosseum is roughly 2,000 years old? It is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome and is the largest that was ever built in whole of the Roman Empire. The Colosseum was once used for contests between gladiators, public spectacles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of battles and dramas but is now just a tourist attraction. It was just breathtaking to see the amazing works of architecture and its sheer size baffled me.
The second site I visited today was the Roman Forum. The Roman Forum is situated at the centre of Rome and was once the site of many elections and was a venue for public speeches, criminal trials and gladiator matches. In some ways you could call it the centre of Roman public life. Like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum is a site of magnificent architecture.
Arrivederci!
