Well my trip could not have got off to a better start. After a few travel delays in the UK and a brief snooze in Kuala Lumpur I arrived in Krabi at 07.30 with just enough time to get to Ao Nang and get myself ship shape for some pirate shenanaginans! Laura had hired no less than a pirate ship 'Dragon heart' for the hen celebrations. So add about 25 pirate wenches, a few bottles of Samsong, some tunes and well.. you've got a party!
Such an amazing time! It did rain a bit, but to be honest, that just meant no-one wasted time sunbathing and instead concentrated on the important mission of dancing like lunatics and drinking games- which coincidentally indicate that either Laura did not know her husband to be very well at all or she was just looking for an excuse to drink more Samsong- my money is on the whiskey!
The boys were also out on a boat for the stag party and we bumped into them a few times. Their boat was a world away from ours, they seemed very happy just chilling, having a few beers. To be fair they did have Giles scale a nearby cliff and dive in naked for our amusement- unfortunately we were all too busy enjoying ourselves to even notice lol!
Just after sunset we pulled into a beach bar run by Toffee the pirate (I kid you not!) Now I was a little concerned for Laura for a minute as we had to almost carry her ashore. However after a strategic sleep, some food and a bit of glitter she was back in the game! So fueled by buckets and a bbq - lots more fun was had!!
It was nice to have a few days to catch up with everyone properly before the wedding; chilling by the pool and visiting Railey beach which is still stunning but as its high season, it did unfortunately at times resemble clapham common station with the longtail boats coming and going.
Then the big day arrived, again there was rain in the morning- in fact monsoon rain, which I'm sure put the bride to be right at ease. Anyway all scrubbed up we all arrived by speedboat (which I could definitely get used to) to the resort where they were getting married. Centara is an absolutely stunning resort and probably the most idyllic setting for a wedding, I've ever seen! So after another little shower to keep us all on our toes the clouds cleared and left clear blue skies just in time for the wedding. The whole ceremony was beautiful and the wedding breakfast was a feast! But is was definitely the little touches that made it all so special- on each place-card they had put a photo of the guest with the bride or groom and had left a personal 'message in a bottle for everyone' After some lovely speaches, including the bride and all of her bridesmaids (these girls were not to be outdone lol!) we moved to the resort's club hired out for the wedding where the party continued into the wee hours- an amazing day from start to finish!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Crutchley!!
