Hey there!!
I've finally got the chance to fill in my travel blog! Its been so long...and Im so tired just slept there for overe 2 hours! At the mo, Im in Hue which is a lovely litle town full of everyhthing you want to do! Earlier, we went out for a late lunch then afterewqards we went for a walk to the market. Have to say, they have the best markets over here, you can get anything although when they see a traveller, especially us lot, they try to rip us off. For example, this particular lady was trying to sell me a t-shirt for 25 dollars. Immediately, I walked away in a huff!!Its such a small place that is so busy all the time. The traffic never seems to stop with all the bicycles, motorbikes and cars going in all different directions. You see these dainty girls on their bikes honking away going quite fast zooming around. I went on a motorbike with Chris just to have a whizz round. Don't worry,I wore a helmet even though i looked like an idiot!!It was an adrenaline rush but Ive decided to book a cycle tour around the town visitinfg all the places mentioned in the helpful guide. Oh forgot to say that we went to the most famous cafe "Mandarin Cafe" in Hue owned by a renowned photographer named Mr. Cu. Gosh, he has such a talent taking the most natural photographs but yet they leave with a profoud effect. He took a picture of the group at the table, took it twice cos he said, that I wasn't fullly in it so he took it again. He will give us a copy of that photo signed by him!! I was so impressed with his photo shots of Hue that I was pondering for a few minutes should I buy them. They were 50,000 dong which seems a lot but its over 2 pound for a pack of 12. I bought them, those prints will become priceless when I return home...whenever that is. Beforte we got to Hue,we stopped by at this most beautiful marble mountain perched by the se. Only downfalll, is that we had to walk up the mountain...only tookn 5 steps up and I had to take a rest!!! I know, how unfit am I?!! Said quite loudly, "Whose idea was this?" as it was SOOOO hot and humid. It was Rob's fanatstic idea, I say that now because it was well worth it once you got to the top. We walked into this cave full of Buddists shrines,it was very spiritual inside. It was truly awe inspiring and it made me stand there for minutes trying to take in this special moment. We dove a bit furtehr and Caz kept on saying, "This is where Topgear have gone to!" and it just clicked minutes later, that I'm here!! When I saw it on telly, you were liike, "WOW" but its wonderful to actually experience it for real. Best stop over!!!Only paid 15,000 dong for it too. I woudl have paid loads more, it was that good!!
So far on this trip, Ive been having an AMAZING time. Its been such an eye opernerr and I'm so glad I booked this trip. The other day, I cannot remember the day...we went on a boat trip to visit 4 different islands which included free lunch and drinks. I was definitely sold on that!! That day started at 9am where we got picked up from the hotel and we didnt get back til after half past 3. Those islands were absolutely stunningingly beautiful with the claearest tourquoise water I have ever seen, it was just so calming and peaceful to be on the boat! I loved that day, don't know if I have mentioned in my previous blog....
During that stay, I also visited the Cu Chi Tummel in Saigoin, its the militaruy base for the Vietnamese durung the American war. Its an unique project of architecture, as an undergroundf system of tunnel deeply located in the ground with numerous floors, several allley like a cobweb over 200km long with places of boarding, accomadation, meeting and fighting. It was so impressive that it has retained the basement so well, that everything looks exactly how it was in those days aprtr from putting wooden roofs over each compartment. It took them 20 years to dig out each tunnel! They had completed it well before World War 1 so they were wel prepared for the Americans!!The traps The Viet, soldiers were incredibly cleaver yet very gruesome. They were well disguised, once you got trapped there was no way of getting away. They had names such as See Saw Trap, Window Trap...Katy went inton the smallest tunnel which was pitch black! I honestly dont klnow how she did it!!At first, I was the most courageous pereson to go into this tiny tunnel but as soon as I got in...all I could see was creepy crawlies and it was so claustrophopbic that I squealed, "I can't do it!!"
Anyway, enough of that, I need to go. Hopefullly, I will have a good day on my bicycle tomorrow. Some Vietnamese hotel worker is next to me now singing away to his heart content!!
