Bit knacked, as I set off pretty early to drive down here, no real news from me.

Wise move not going to the Lebanon by the look of things. Still you should be OK - when we were in Austria as kids in 1968, we wondered why Mum and Dad were loking a bit tense and buying very expensive English newspapers - it was because the Russkies had invaded Czechoslovakia next door! Bit close for comfort, but you have a respectable margin betwen you and what is happening.

Very, very hot here - drove down in shirt sleeves with the roof off at 07:00. That's me done for tonite.

Much activity: - in "real life" and on the web site. You look to be having a fabulous time and have some great fotos to look back on.

I have copied them to the computer here but they only come across as tiny 20 KB to 30KB little snapshots, about the size of a passport photograph, wheras we set the camera up so each photo would be 200 to 250KB. I would keep them on the camera until you come home and, if you run out of space on the memory, buy another memory card. I can always use it!

Off to clean the Triumph as I didn't do it last night and it has been very hot today. Driving to Cambridge on Wednesday for the day but it doesn't compete with Wien by a long chalk.

I was a bit distressed to see all the building going on so close to the Brandenburger Tor in your photographs. It used to be extraordinarily impressive but now looks a bit hemmed in.

The DB Train looked really good and comfortable - worth the price of your InterRail tickets by itself!

Quick thought - do you think that the Saudis have "InterRial" tickets? Rubbish joke, going now!

Caroline & Jason, The photographs are great, Glad you took the camera. We will keep copies of them but keep them on the camera untill we let you know when we have done it. You must have remembered lots of Berlin & Prague, Caroline. Glad to see you are not going hungry, with your ice cream & Jason sampling the local beers. Are you going to have a rest at the beach for a while before you walk around Rome? We have had good weather all weekend. I miss you both joining me for cocktails. Just to ask you if you have any idea when you might get here..weekends are best for me.......and for how long.......surprising how many friends I have since I've lived in Vernazza. Have a dutch girl arriving Aug. 11 for a week.....and early Sept. is booked with my brother ascending from Ausland...Bring your bathers...it's hotter than Hades........oh, not for Caro though...too many jellyfish.....and I know it would mean another trip to A&E...and also, we are banned from eating pizza in Monterosso...they have long memories!

Caroline. Well done on the results. Mum told me over the phone this evening. She didn't exactly know all of them off by heart but she says you have got a good and safe 2:1 rating. Spoken German is brilliant (but don't try it in some of the countries you are going through there is History there in Czeko, Croatia and Italy for sure!
I hope that you have now managed to figure out how to upload the photos and are taking lots of them. Brilliant weather, if it is anything like here.
