We arrived in New York quite late in the evening, the bus journey whilst again not ideal, was much better than when we travelled with Greyhound. If anyone travels around America by bus, go with Megabus, much nicer and they have free wifi which is always a bonus! So we arrived in New York and hailed a cab to take us to our hotel, this in itself was an 'experience' shall we say. We stopped a cab only for him to shout at us that we were being too slow loading our bags in the back, sorry but you try lugging around an 85kg bag! We eventually got them in the boot, or 'trunk' as we would say in America and we got taken to our hotel (after a bit of confusion with the address) The hotel was lovely, great location, right next to 5th Avenue and Times Square, have free computer access and wifi (great for updating our blog) We also discovered a cute little bakery right round the corner which done amazing cupcakes!
Our first day we went around the city exploring, over the next few days we would discover that we generally took the longest routes possible when everything was so much closer but that's the fun of exploring a city! The weather wasn't great during our time here, it was sunny the first day but cold and wet the following two days which wasn't ideal but we still got to see plenty of the city. However we both want to come back and see more, there's never enough time in New York! We walked down to Central Park one day, even though it was really cold and wintry, it was still lovely to walk through and would be even better in Summer. We were right by the Rockerfeller Center and the theatres on Broadway. We went into shops (mainly window shopping of course!) and had to indulge in some Starbucks of course! They are literally on every corner here and that is no exaggeration! We didn't have much luck with eating out in New York, although we know that's not a reflection on the city, it's just our bad choices! But one restaurant (in which Emma found a hair in her food!) gave us both our meals free so that was a bonus being the bargain hunters that we are!
New York was brilliant. Candy came here two years ago and loved it, and still does. Emma has wanted to come here since she was 15 and loves it just as much as she thought she would. There's still so much to do and see here and whenever we come here next time (with slightly bigger budgets hopefully) it would be great to see a show on Broadway and do all the tours. But even without all that, New York was the perfect place to end our travels, a real high.
So, this is it, our last blog update. A good time to just say thank you, a huge thank you to our friends and family who have supported us in so many ways. Our family have been with us every step of the journey, and without them, this wouldn't have been possible. We love them so much, they've taught us so many valuable lessons that have enabled us to get through this adventure. We've had many ups and downs (many) but every single moment has been amazing. We've met some fantastic people and learnt so much, about ourselves, what we're capable of, and about the parts of the world we've seen and things we've experienced. We're sitting here, in New York writing this waiting for our plane, and at various moments in time, we never thought we'd get here, but we did. Being away from home for so long makes you appreciate even more what you have. We are very, very lucky. We have had an absolute blast. We're glad we took this adventure together, and we have so many memories that we will treasure for a lifetime. We've already accumulated a list of places to visit next!
But we have to say, there really is no place like home, and there's no one like family :-)

Peter Dutton Well done to both of you. The last paragraph of your NY blog summed it up perfectly. Love, Peter.
