Greetings all the way from Bustling Bangkok!
Our first full day in Thailand and boy what a great time we have had so far! After arriving yesterday our first evening was spend indulging in what we thought to be some local cuisine- little did we know we had walked straight into a Japanesse resturant- haha, but still the food was tasty! When our bellies were full we headed to the busy night market, where we enjoyed our first Singar beers in a local bar. Then after getting our heads down for a good nights sleep at the beautiful Sofihotel Silom, (which we owe a big THANK YOU to the parents for- pure Luxury) our first day was spent wondering round the stunning grounds of the grand palace which we reached by river boat. This was an amazing place and so peaceful, can't say we have seen anything quite like it. With breathtaking temples and monuments, decorated in gold leaf and jewels. We then took a short walk to Wat Pho, which is a temple home to the reclining budda- again what an sacred place. Then came our first experience of the Thai bus transport down the hectic roads of Bangkok, but at 16p a fare we couldn't grumble. We then went back to the hotel for a refreshing swim in the hotel's roof top swimming pool looking over Bangkok, before having our first Thai meal. This again was lovely- although the green curry here is a tad hotter than back in London, think it nearly knocked Lorna's socks off- haha!
We are both really looking forward to tomorrow where we will be visiting the floating markets before heading onto Chang Mai (North of Thailand) to begin our Elephant Treking on a 3 day tour in one of Thailands National Parks!!!
Thank you so much to everyone who has sent us their kind wishes on both the blog & Facebook, we are really greatful and excited you are able to follow this wonderful experience with us. Keep them coming, we look forward to hearing from you all.
Loads of love from the far east,
x x Lorna and Vicky x x
