A lot of your pics have grey skies - is that the kind of weather you've been having the most? I was happy to see that the jungle pics were taken in sunnier weather tho.
Are you finding lots of 'western' food available, or are you grabbing pizzas because you're finding the standard food boring? If you want a good meal, do you have to pay a lot, or can you grab great things from food stalls? Can you get vegetable dishes easily, or is it mostly carbos?
Just looking at your (lovely) quilted shoes made my feet ache! And I love the brown coat.
Hilary
Are you kidding? The dancing lessons were so much fun!!! And, honestly, when have I been all that concerned with looking like a bit of an idiot (or more than a bit, depending on the situation)? It's a lot more fun when you're not worried about that stuff.
By the way, Mom, got that message from Jesse after my vomiting bus ride, so must've been that crazy Wejr esp! And Mark, the guinea pig was quite tasty indeed - kinda like chicken (surprise surprise!)
And Richard, don't worry about "guilting" me - sometimes I need a kick in the butt to get me going. Anyhow, I'm off to explore old town Quito for the day!
Erika
She wishes that is the worst footage I have of her...
Michael
Hilary:
What are you going to do to Erika in retaliation for the "Dancing Lessons" video?
Mark And Shirley
Mark:
First off tres cool! Love the idea of the website and have to say besides that im jealous, I have to do the same next time travel. Man looks like fun times though. The bus ride from hell got a good chuckle from me! Sounds like your having a hell of a time, he he. Fried guinne pig:) How was it? will we be looking for it when you two return?:) Love the pics and hope the rest of your journey is as ....unique :)
Shirley says "Hi, love the pictures, hates the guinee pig ( he he), have a great time."
Barbara
Wow...Erika(if indeed it is you)I never thought of bodies in the river.I ws thinking maybe Hilary sold you down the river after one too many short jokes but i never thought of a poison blow dart . Diabolical.Hil, you never answered my email question asking if you read Jesse's posting before you went out on the town for your birthday or if it was just a weird spooky esp sibling connection thing. At any rate I'm really glad to hear that you're relaxing and taking it easy and just having fun.I want to see a photo of your new shoes! Also good to hear that the horse ride didn't bother your allergies, or rather that the antihistamines worked. It sounds like it was well worth doing the ride. Not much news from here, New Denver is still New Denver. The antique fair came and went and All I gave in to were 3 old magazines with really interesting headlines(1967-"Can we survive another century with the U.S.A. as our neighbor) and a small interesting stool. It would have made a perfect time out stool!Oh yah and a licite ring that's just like one I had in grade 11 and will prob. never wear but it was only $3 and well....We're off to the Kaslo Jazz Fest for the long weekend. Just the one day to see Bruce Cockburn.and whoevers right before him.Well, Richards going for the whole day but I'll go over once the sun is on the way out. All joking aside,it is good to knowthat you two are having such a great experience. One to remember!!Stay safe and enjoy the ride.Love mom/barbara
P.S. Richard asked me to pass on to you that the last thing he wanted was to to "instill you with guilt". It's just that you've both been spoiling us with all your postings.
Erika
Yes I am quite the elusive species these days. Actually a big difference between now and the start of our trip is the size of the towns...smaller towns now mean that internet is harder to find and often SLOW (like worse than dial up) and I for one get annoyed and don´t bother uploading stuff. However I have a bunch of pictures to put on here and I will do that as soon as I finish figuring out how to transfer all 650 of them to memory stick (instructions in spanish...doing it now sort of working keep fingers crossed). Also we are doing more of the group excursion thing these days so our days have been pretty full.
Michael I just wanted to tell you that the lovely Scott´s Broom is alive and well and invading Ecuador too (My time in Victoria conditioned me to be very bitter at the site of it)
And Uncle Gunther you can keep your lovely Detroit pictures to yourself. The sooner I forget what it looks like the sooner I will be back for a rematch at Scattegories.
Anyway back to the grind. Life is hard here. Later!
PS How do you know this is me? It is possible that this is Hilary posing as Erika having poisoned her with a blow dart and thrown her body into one of the many rivers....
Richard And Barbara
Hi guys. Sheesh! at the start of your trip, we were getting postings every day, now were lucky if we get one every three days, and Erica seems to have dissapeared. I'm going to have to go back to reading Sports Illustrated on my lunch break.Your Mom, Hil, asked me to leave a posting so here I am; but I don't have much to say except I'm done with the elementary wing and most of the high school classrooms, and am tackling lockers. Personally I feel like adopting Al Pacinno's attitude from scent of a women to them and TAKE A FLAMETHROWER to the lockers. they are disseased. Stay safe the two of you and continueto have fun. Love Richard and Barbara.
Hilary
Dad - The internet place I was at was extremely slow and was taking ages to load photos, and it was sunny out and I didn´t want to be sitting in an internet cafe, so I cancelled the loading - smartass.
Michael
I assume that the one and only picture in the Cuenca photo album was taken by Hilary, while lying on her side retching.
Gunther Hepperle
Gee Erika, the pics are looking awesome so far. Would you like me to retailiate and send you some of Detroit?? Trust you and Hilary are having a great time. Stay away from the Peyote plants....
Jesse
