ey!
Now i've been in siem riep to see the temples and the flaoting villages andthe sunset at the open river-lake:):)
The trip startet with a bus from khaosan road at 8 am, which was one hour late and on the bus there were 5 canadians and a very nice swedish couple which i got in talk with:) the journey to the cambodian border went well, it took about 2,5 - 3 hours and we had 2 stops on the way..:) it was all desert-like along the road and when we came to aranyaphrat we stopped to fill out our visas and have lunch. the men that helped us with that was very nice and one of them wanted to impress us with that he could brake a straw(from the soda) only with 2 fingers, hehe, he was funny and after 15minutes he'd made it and was very proud. funny, hehehehe
after about one hour there we went on further to the border, where we checked out from thailand and walked over to cambodia,POIPET. there were alot of children there, some begging for money, and alot of tourists, i asked one of the gards and he said that it's like that busy every day during all of the year...!!!
to get a stamp to verify the visas we had to stand in a longlong line for about one hour and after that we waited for the bus which would take us to siem reap,it took 30minutes and we were on our way...again...and then, after 15 minutes we stopped,...AGAIN to switch to a taxi. one of the canadian boys and one really nice guy from hawaii and me shared it all the way up to siem reap. it is a new road, made of asfhalt, but they were still working on it and for about 1,5 hour on that new road, when that finished we rode on a very humpdy dumpdy road for 2 hours before we arrived sawasdee angkor inn hotel, in siem riep.
after relaxing at the very nice hotell for ca 30 minutes, the manager took us on an round/trip in a tuktuk around the central city, and stopped on an local bar to show us the traditional way of enjoying temself at night, i was very tired, but we stayed there for an hour, talking about cambodia and siem riep, before we went back to the hotell..PUH. it was very nice to go to bed then...
it made quite an ipression at me,cambodia, with the poorness and lots of people trying to sell u things(including the manager, with trips and things to do) and lots of very young children asks u with those beautiful eyes, looking sad and want u to by flowers and other things for 1 dollar...i took the advice i got before i left, and managed to not by anything. the manager both me one rose though...hehe
the day after arrival we went to see some of the temples and were there with our own tuktukdriver and guide for about 8 hours, after that we went to see the floating villages and the beautiful sunset on the river which can lead you all the way to vietnam if u want... it was amazing.
this trip is so going my way, and i'm still looking forward to every day...:):):)
