This morning we flew from San Francisco to Seattle. When flying we experienced a little turnbulance whilst going around Mount Rainier. Other than that the flight was really good and we had amazing views over the mountain ranges which still have snow on the tops.
We arrived in Seattle at about lunchtime and my first impression was that it was very industrial. Also that it seemed quite dirty and not what I was expecting from seeing TV and movies that were set in Seattle. But after looking around for a while we found that most places are actually quite nice.
We walked down to 3rd Ave and Pine St where we caught the 36 bus down to the Pike Place Markets. As the 36 bus is on the Metro Free bus route we could get on and off for free. Once arriving at the Pike Place Markets we walked down each way and i was a little bit dissapointed as i expected there to be more and also more of a variety of stalls. Also there wasnt many places to sit down or to get some food. We ended up getting donuts then walking back down to McDonalds for something to eat.
We then caught the free buses back to 3rd and Union where we walked back to our hotel and then we had to go get some dinner. That was quite difficult as we coulnt find anything that was remotely healthy that didnt require a microwave, oven fridge etc. In the end we got pizza from a nearby store tht claimed to be only a few minutes away but when we asked for the free delivery it took over an hiur when the shop only said it would be 45 minutes. The pizza was cold by the time we got it but still enjoyable but then again we were also terribly hungry for waiting for over 1 hour and a half for the food.
Tuesday 27th
We are staying in another Holiday Inn Express so we got to have free breakfast again and it is alot nicer than the San Francisco Holiday Inn Express. In the elavator they have written menus so we know what is on offer in the mornings which i find it quite helpful.
Today we caught the bus 5 to Woodland Park Zoo. The zoo was really good and it was fun to see another side of the city. I found the area around the zoo very pretty and lots less industrial than most of the Seattle that we have seen so far. The zoo was good except for that som eof the animals enclosures where getting renovated or not there yet so there were a few animals on the map that i wanted to see but couldnt cause they werent there. Like the lion, zebra and also the sun bear.
We then caught the bus back to our hotel then we hung around there for a while. Then again we had to figure out what to have for dinner. We looked it up then started walking to where we thought we could go for dinner. We started out at the 5 point cafe but it was more of a bar than a cafe. We then did about 100 laps of the surrounding area until we decided to go to Subway which wa cheaper and tasted really good unlike the one we had in San Fran. Another good thing is that the footlongs are only $5 in some stores.
Tomorrow we are going to drive to Snohomish and also go to the Everett Mall and the Walmart there. Also we are hoping to get into the The Boeing Company for a tour.

Celine I would love something little from the Everett Mall as I have fond memories of this place. Also please take a picture of our old house from 1985. Dari will enjoy it no doubt. Sounds like you are all going to be huge when you return with all that American food!!! Sorry you were disappointed with the markets - they used to be quite fun and busy. Lots of love to you all. xxxx
