Emma and Simon's travels
we flew from chiang mai to surathani and then got a bus to the port and a boat over to samui we decided to stay in chawang on the north east of tghe island it was full moion party night so we got a boat over to koh panyang, the beach was full of dj's playing different styles of music and it was packed, mess heads colapsing everywhere. We sat on the beach drinking till about 5 and thought we would get a boat back, but so did thousands of other people, every boat that came had people swimming up to it and climbing on, the boatmen were literally booting people off as it got full. We had to wait waist high in the freezing cold sea that all night people had been vomiting in and using as a toilet for what felt like hours. We ended up climbing on a privatly run hotel boat and paying again to get back.
the next day we went to lamai where we found a bungalow by the beach for 250 bhat a night where we stayed for the next 2 weeks lazing around on the beach, we got fishing rods and had a go at fishing and in the two weeks all simon caught was one squid which we threw back later we found out we were suposed to use this as bait to catch a big fish.....oh and he caught a cow fish with his hands. We even hired out a kayak so we could get further out with our rods and still caught nothing, but emma did get sea sickness.
while on samui we hired out scooters and went around the island we visited bo phut where we saw a dessert island about three miles away and thought we would hire out a speed boat and visit it. The boat cost 2000 bhat an hour and there was a good reason why this island was desserted, for about half a mile all around the island there was loads of jagged rocks the boat stopped and we had to swim in cutting our feet and legs to pieces the island was covered in crap and the sand was like sludge we didnt stay long and swam back to the boat
we went to the zoo and aquariam which was really good, fed some sea turtles and some parrots and saw an animal show that had parrots on bikes and performing tigers and otters, the show was cut short as it started pouring with rain.
we drove up to see a waterfall to find out you had to rock climb up a mountain to see a little trickle the worst waterfall ever. We went up to a view point but the bike wouldnt take both of us up the hill so emma got a lift up with a thai girl.
the rest of our time on samui we spent on the beach lazing about sunbathing we got very good at eating off the street sellers and spent our nights in the bars beating the bar girls at jenga and connect four and watching lady thai boxing.
