Hey,
Sorry its been so long since I've updated the blog - we have just arrived in New Zealand from Sydney which was amazing - I'll try not to go on too long about it!
We had 6 days in Sydney and managed to fit in a LOT in that time. On our first day we met up with Elise who we met on the Fraser Island tour - she took us for breakfast in Darlinghurst to 'bills' cafe, I don't know if anyone has ever since bill grangers cookery show but he is the most smug man in the world!!!!! (Miss Tan you know what I mean!). We then headed to Bondi Beach for a walk along to Bronte, lots of runners and walkers along that bit - I can understand why as its so beautiful!
The next morning we walked through the Botanical Gardens to the Opera House and the Habour Bridge - the view is pretty amazing and just like you would imagine.
I managed to get a ticket to see the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (great discounts for under 30s!) - so I sat with a glass of wine looking at the view before the concert - very classy evening!
On one of the days Elsie took us to the Sydney Fish market - quite an experience but the fish and chips quite pretty amazing, nearly Aldeburgh standard! We then spend the evening in Luna Park - a 1930s fun fair underneath the Harbour Bridge (which we walked across in near gale force winds!) We met a girl named Amanda (from Texas, very nice and thought the world was awesome!!) who also came with us to Luna Park along with Elise and some of her friends. There were some cool rides - me and Em went on a really old and rickety Mouse Ride - I'm still slightly deaf in one ear from Em's screaming!
The next day we spend walking along from The Rocks to the quay where we went over to Manly on the ferry. Manly was nice and we had a lovely walk along the coast before heading back.
On our last day we went did a bit of shopping for warm clothes and shoes for our time in New Zealand. We spent some time in Paddys Markets buying the usual tourist stuff which was fun - we also brought some socks as we seem to have lost quite a lot of them!!!
We then had a lovely evening at the Opera House Bar before heading to Darling Habour for dinner and then back to the hostel to pack for our early flight!
So - we are now in Christchurch and we leave tomorrow on a tour around the South Island!
I'll update this again soon - lots of love Em xx
