Hi,
Long time no blog, but we have been swagging in the outback!
Arrived in sydney for a few days sightseeing. We saw all the usual, harbour bridge, Opera house, darling harbour, Bondi beach etc. Then straight off to Alice Springs, which was surprisingly cool, or so the told us (36degrees!). It was all so green, they had 5 times their yearly rainfall about 6 weeks ago and wildlife was at its max.
Flies, crickets, butterflies, then due to that, snakes and lizards etc! Was amazing. Saw a kangaroo some lizards, quite a few spiders but dont know waht they were, big though and no snakes!!!!!!!
The 3 day red centre safari was great, Uluru was amazing and we got to climb it, but it was so windy on the top that they shut it while we were up there but was all ok. The Olgas were massive bigger tha Uluru, but Kings Canyon was amazing, with a big waterhole in the bottom ( The Garden of Eden) that ricky went swimming in! The swags were great, sleeping under the stars, but the moon was so bright, we didnt need torches!
Then in alice we visited the reptile centre(we held a big python and some lizards) and the Flying Drs.
We then headed back to sydney but to stay with some friends for three days, Shamus and Anja. They are in the process of doing up their house so we felt at home. They took us to a beach, Folkstone i think! But it is not a normal bech it was a 4 wheel drive beach, shamus has a 4x4 truck and anja an all wheel drive car, it was great fun we all had a go and the sand dunes were just like the paris-dakar, dad you would be so jealous!
We then borrowed their car and went on a day trip to the blue mountains. We visted the Jenolan caves and then went to Echo Point and the Thee Sisters beautiful!
We are now in Melbourne and il try to put some photos up while we are in town if i can find cheap internet!
We hope to do Great Ocean rd, Dandenongs, some wineyards etc, we pick up our hire car Weds am.
