G'day!
We arrived in Noosa early on Monday afternoon and made our way to Halse Lodge YHA, it was a bit dissapointing as it was an 18th century building and very time worn. We spent the afternoon looking around Noosa and getting our bearings after yet another long bus journey.
Tuesday was hot Hot HOT, so we decided to take a 9km coastal walk through Noosa National Park. As we made our way through the park we saw lots of wildlife including (massive) monitor lizzards, and as we walked out along the cliff tops we saw dolphins, turtles and rays. After all this hard work we spent the afternoon lazing on the beach and swimming in the warm sea.
Wednesday was much of the same, we walked around Noosa shops in the morning and spent the afternoon on the beach, body-surfing in the sea.
Thursday, we were up early and caught the bus to Australia Zoo. Where we spent time looking at the lizzards, the giant aldabran tortoise and the crocodoiles. We then made our way to the Crocoseum for the main show, this includes elephants, birds, snakes, and the main attraction - crocodiles. From here we went to the koala show where we saw them running and even jumping up trees - very strange for these lazy guys! We saw many of Australia's animals including dingoes and cassowaries and then made our way to the tributes laid in memory of Steve Irwin. We walked through Roo heaven and up to the tiger temple. This was amazing - we've never been so close to these beautiful creatures before. We saw them playing on land and also in water - what a rare sight!! When we finally dragged ourselves away from the tigers, Emma fed an elephant, luckily it only ate the carrots and not Emma's arm. We then caught the Steve Irwin shuttle back across the zoo just in time for the feeding of the Asian small-clawed otters. It was soon time to leave and we caught the Australia Zoo bus back to Noosa - what a great day.
Friday was another early morning as we left Noosa and caught the greyhound to Hervey Bay.
Lots of Love,
Emma and Lee
