G'day Guys!
Sunday night we arrived in Byron Bay - The jewell in the crown of New South Wales. We made our way to the hostel and settled down for the night.
Monday morning was spent walking along Byron's beautiful beaches, which all seem to have the same soft, golden sand and crystal clear waters. By lunch it was hot, Hot HOT!! So we headed back for bodyboards and swimmers, and spent the afternoon lazing on main beach. After a hard day on the beach we freshened up and made our way down to the Railway Bar for a cold one. Hard life eh!!
Tuesday morning we were up at 4:30am for our sunrise tour. We were picked up at 5:40 and taken to Cape Byron where we had a 10 minute walk to the lighthouse. Not easy when it's still dark, and we forgot both our torches - doh!
Unfortunately Tuesday morning was very cloudy and the only proof we had that the sun was rising was the fact that it was getting lighter. Oh well, from here we got to walk to the most easterly point of the Australian mainland, and got some great costal views. We were then taken to the Pass look-out where we had chance to get some great photos of the beaches. Then we headed to Watego's Beach to paddle our feet and watch the early morning surfers, before getting dropped back to our hostel. We then spent the rest of our day wandering aroung the town and making plans for further up the coast.
Wednesday, we had our last look around the town, and strolled along the beach. Before we knew it it was time to collect our bags and catch the 1:30pm bus to Surfers Paradise.
We had a great time in Byron Bay, and enjoyed it's layed back vibe and great beaches. We'd recommend to anyone (as long as the sun is shining!!).
Love Lee and Emma
