So our next stop was to the friendliest city I have been to . . . Esfahan!
This place is lovely and forget what you hear on the news if you get the chance to go to Iran go and make Esfahan on your places to visit.
We were introduced to a great man and his family that Madventure have been in contact with for years and I have never felt so welcome. Any problems and we popped into his carpet shop and he would take us to where we wanted to go or point us in the right direction.
Yes he has a carpet shop and yes I feel victim to the carpet sales I couldn't help it they are all just so beautiful and the one I bought was on the cheap side so couldn't resist . . . So hopefully once I get a house I have somewhere to put it LOL!
Whilst here I done sooo much shopping and bought so much stuff it's amazing how much you just want to spend hear so have some penny's set aside!
Another little trip me and some of the girls made was to a salon to have our eyebrows threaded and coloured and what an experience. . . In Iran as most of you will know it is a legal requirement for the women to where a head scarf so you don't see salons anywhere. There are lots of barbers but no female salons and this is why . . . The salon was down an alley on the corner of a building with no windows just a big metal door, you chap and wait, someone then sticks there head round the side of the door with their scarf on and lets you in.
It is a little box room with women all getting their hair and other beauty requirements done head scarfs off and even smoking (also illegal for a women to smoke.) They were so friendly even though they couldn't speak a word of English and all 5 of us had our eyebrows threaded and then coloured which was just a bit of koleston slapped on and we all got the same colour which then set us into fits of laughter for about half an hour, as we all have different skin types and hair colours etc. so to all have dark brown was going to be a problem from the start, especially for one of the girls Steph who has a doll like complexion and usually really blonde eyebrows, they went dark brown within seconds!! She suited it but the shock is always going to be a big one so it took a week or so for her to get used to it . . . But I must say I don't think any of us have laughed as much in a very very long time!! What an experience is all I can say.
That night we were invited to have dinner on the square outside the shop on the grass like a picnic with the family. It was an amazing atmosphere; there is family's everywhere and all enjoying themselves. It was sad to say goodbye but it had to happen eventually and so we left Esfahan!!
