Hi all,
been a while since I wrote a blog I know...it is our last night in LA and Barney and I are dreading leaving. We are having such a good time here and its been so nice chilling out in Roger and Sues lovely home. Not that we've relaxed much. LA life is hectic and theres loads to see and do!
The sand dunes near Pisco were amazing. You get driven around in sandbuggies (kinda like massive go karts) and then at the top of the dune you get off and surf down them lying on ur belly. rly fun!!! Lima is a nice city but there really isn't much to do there. Glad we didnt have very long there as we wouldve got very bored...like Richard! Managed to meet up with Richard and Kat again which was lovely, even though they were very frustrated with their flight cancellations. We went to the largest fountain show in the world. Its in a park in central Lima which has about 15 large water fountains that give light and music displays. Was a really nice evening activity. Leaving the group was sad and felt funny to be on our own again. Even though our tour was officially over, we all checked into the same hostel for our last few days in Lima so all we together anyway. Everyone went their separate ways from there. On our last night in South America, Barney took me out to the best restaurant in Lima for a fabulous meal. We had such a romantic evening. The restaurant is set in an old ince ruin and lit up by candles. The food was fantastic and it was so nice to have some good service! definately wasnt your average backpackers activity. Even though its the best restaurant in Lima, it still cost roughly the same as an average meal would back home!!!
We have really loved the last week in LA. We went to universal studios, which was so cool...got to go down wysteria lane and see some really cool sets from films. And the rides are out of this world. In fact every day we're here we think its getting better and better. We did the standard tourist open top bus ride of the famous peoples homes..saw the beckhams house!!! unfortuantely not him though! and went to madame tusssaurds having fun taking silly photos.
We went down to Santa Monica where we spotted Cindy Crawford and Gwen Steffani in the same hour! My eyes have been permanently peeled for stars!
The on Tuesday, Joseph drove us down to Las Vegas. It was so surreal actually being there. It's like a place you only hear about. We had a lovely room in the MGM Grand and went to see the classic version of cirque de soleil. It was absolutely jaw dropping. Need to see all the other ones now. Spent alot of the time walking around all the hotels. They are out of this world. They're like little villages in 1 place. Infact you never need to leave your hotel. The shopping is fantastic. one amazing shop after the next...channel next to tiffany next to prada etc etc. I tried on the manolo bhlanik shoe big proposes to carrie with!!! Barney gambled a little but we didnt make much winnings. O well...all part of the fun.
Our stay here has been such a lvoely break. We have had to change our asia plans due to the trouble in Bangkok, so now we are flying straight to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. We leave here 11pm Friday and don't get to Cambodia until 1pm on Sunday!!! longest flight!!! We are so so greatful for everything Roger, Sue and Joseph have done for us here. they have really welcomed us with open arms and been so generous. So we will miss them too and hope they visit us back home soon!
Will hopefully try to write again soon. Its hard to remember wat we've been upto when I leave it so long.
Hope you're all well.
