.....By now we have been travelling for 34 days and gone from California to Nevada through Arizona, Utah and Colorado and now we are spending a bit of time in New Mexico. We took the scenic route from Farmington to New Mexico, 200 miles taking us 4.5hrs, getting in at 5pm. We found our Motel 6 and decided to go and explore the lovely town we had just driven into. There is such a lovely feel to Santa Fe. Its very Native Indian which reflects greatly in the shops, particularly the jewellery shops where the most beautiful turquoise is on display, everywhere you look. It was getting dark, so we wandered around a bit, located the church, (which Kate tried to take a photo of and it came out just black- which put us in fits of giggles) and found a nice diner called the Plaza restaurant, for diner. The waiter there was really lovely and he gave us this mexican dessert to try which was alright, tasted a bit like a doughnut. He also mentioned that another mexican delicassy, was to open a pack of tacos (crisp bag) sideways and fill it with chilli and cheese, ( I think we should stick with kebeb as our authentic British delicassy).

Later in the evening we went to Walmart to but hats, gloves and scarfs as we planned to go on a historic walk the following day and it was blxxdy freezing. It was an early rise for the historic walk, our tourguide was Marilyn, an 80yr old eccentric ( off broadway broad, if you no what I mean). There were a lot of older couples on the tour, who were more interested in talking to us about our travels, than listening to the tour, which we found amusing. It was approx 3.5 hrs long and if I'm honest, a bit tedious. However, Marilyn was entertaining and a bit of culture won't do me any harm, even if all the facts and stories quoted came out of a mouth with very old teeth and saliva that kept on gathering at the corners.

That pretty much ends our adventures in Santa Fe as Kate came down with a bug and needed to spend the rest of the evening in bed or with her head down the loo. So I played the nurse maid and got her medicene, aahhed and are you ok'd alot and bought myself a Mc Donalds for my troubles.......
