Today was a very hot day filled with our own itinerary! Yesterday we marked everything we wanted to see on the map and then we drew lines between them and made our own sightseeing map. The first stop was two temples nearby, one Chinese and one Hindu. Then our search for a nice breakfast began, we had read about a place called Coffee Club on Orchard Road so we headed that way. What a road!! We thought we would never make it among all the Gucci, Louis Vitton, Armani, Prada, Chanel and so on. I think you get the picture. But finally the sign for the place turned up. So we ordered a very nice breakfast and watched the citizens of Singapore go about their daily life. We were pretty close to the end of the road, nearby was a botanical garden were we strolled around.
Because Orchard road was so long we didn't want to walk along the whole road again so we took a bus to our next destination. Problem was we walked too far south so we had to go back, but hey we got to see more of the city instead. We walked to a very old park called Fort Canning Park, it was really nice. After this we walked to another park called Merlion, not quite what we hade expected , just concrete and some statues.. We then walked to a civilian war memorial from ww2 and checked out the worlds largest fountain "the fountain of wealth". We were quite close to our hostel so we went back, paid and took a break from the heat. Lunch at the same place as yesterday, then off again to arab street, sultan mosque and little india.
We were pretty tired by now from all the walking, so we returned home, and had showers since we were drenched in sweat... After our little break we wanted to try Singapores signature cocktail the "Singapore sling". We found a nice bar downtown where we enjoyed our drinks, very nice cocktail. We tried to tie knots with our cherry stems but we were rubbish.. Our waiter was nice until we wanted the check, he said he'd be right back but started talking to some other customers for 10min then went in the back for ages. Emelie had had enough! So we finally went up to the counter, paid and left.
On our way home Emelie bought a dress she'd seen yesterday, that's right, a dress, an a purple one at that! Then we had some fast food; banana and peanut crispy pancake, chicken nuggets wrapped in seaweed on a stick and chicken/sardine pasty.
Tomorrow we fly to Bali!!
