Today we visited the Cu Chi tunnels, about 2 hours out of the centre of Ho Chi Minh. These are the tunnels which the Vietnamese used during the war to communicate and hide from the north and the American bombers. The tunnels are tiny, I could only just fit, the openings are 30cm by 60cm and the tunnels only slightly wider. The tunnel network stretches all the way to the Cambodian border and also had parts which had several storeys underground for living with kitc...

Even though we have only been here a couple of days I feel like we manage to see and do so much. Today we started off at the Ho Chi Minh national museum, a beautiful building which explained the history of the city, it's story and development and it's struggle for independence. It also had bunkers which you could go down and walk through the maze of tunnels in which it still has original furniture in the living room, a little scary at times but really interesting...

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh at around 8pm after a 10hour journey. It was a suprisingly comfortable though as we we're put on a sleeping bus which meant each of us got a reclining seat which went all the way back allowing us to sleep for most of the journey. Ho Chi Minh City is broken up into districts; we are staying in district 1- the backpacker district. It's very busy and developed, not quite what I expected. Unfortunately yesterday I developed a rash all over my legs and back, little itchy spots. I haven't been feeling to great so we we're able to much yesterday. We have been to 3 doctors and they all gave me different creams and pills to take, no one seemed to know what is was. It took us just over 2 hours to getting Kampot from Sihnoukville; another crazy minibus driver, a very cramped bus and a guy having to stop to he sick, safe to say once again we we're glad to get off. We found a nice guesthouse for $8 a night, brand new this year and really helpful staff.
