I think when i last wrote this we were waiting for the train journey from hell down to the islands and guess what it really was the train journey from hell! We set off from Chiang Mai at 8am for the train to Bangkok, this train was okay, just uncomfortable and boring and they kept serving us really weird looking (and tasting actually) food. We eventually got to Bangkok at about 9pm, by this point we were starving so headed for some kfc, which wasnt quite the same as in England lol but good enough. Then onto the next train to Surat Thaini, we got the train at 11pm and got to Surat Thaini at 9am the next day. This really was the worst part of the journey, the seats were uncomfortable, there was weird bugs crawling around everywhere, it was dirty and also so so so cold. Not only this but i got stuck next to a thai man who didnt know any english so kept trying to speak to me in thai, however when i tried to tell him i didnt understand thai, he didnt understand me as he didnt speak english. Once we got off the horrible train we got a mini bus that got us to the ferry port for 12 o clock, then onto a ferry to the islands, which was meant to get us there at half 2....HOWEVER lol, the weather was awful (its meant to be the hot dry season at the moment apparently theyve pretty much never seen this much rain at this time of the year, just our luck) this meaning the boat took 4 and a half hours, the waves were massive and literally pushed the boat everyway possible, several times i swore it was going to capsize. Finally we made it to Koh Phangan! Once we got to where we were staying it suddenly all seemed worth it, where we were staying is lovely, its on the beach and the pool and bar look over this, our room was massive and clean and also a bit posh lol. When we got there we were knackered so just went into the local town for some food and a look around and then to bed.
The next day we went into the town for lunch and shopping for a top for the full moon party. After this we went back to our hotel for a nice long nap (we nap alot now lol). After this we got 'dressed up' (anything that isnt shorts, t shirt and hair back is dressed up here) and headed to our bar for drinks and dinner, there we got chatting with some people also staying there who we decided to go to Haad Rin with. Haad Rin is where the full moon party is held, its a crazy place, its just a long beach with different bars along it, all selling very cheap alcohol. We went over to the drop in bar where people were attempting (without much luck) to jump over a rope on fire and got some buckets. Buckets here basicly consit of a bucket filled with too much spirt and not enough mixer, however they are still lush and very drinkable lol. We then went onto the beach for some dancing and lots more drinks. After this we (when i say we i mean me lol) decided it would be a good idea to go in the sea with all my clothes on, which was great fun until several people told me everyone pisses in the sea....lovely! It was a great night and we crawled into bed at about 5am.
The next day we woke up to beautiful sunshine and bad hangovers so spent the day by the pool eating sandwiches and chips and relaxing, then took a lovely 3 hour nap ready for the full moon party that night. In the evenign we headed to our bar where everyone painted each other in tonnes of UV paint, then 16 of us jumped into a pick up truck type thing (this was only meant for about 8 people so some were literally hanging off the edges of it lol). We then got to Haad Rin and it was mental, the beach was covered by about 20,000 people all totally smashed and on god knows what. We had a bucket which was a lot stronger than the previous night and were all very drunk before we knew it, so much so we pretty much drunk water for the rest of the night lol. After lots of dancing and watching a fire show we decided to get some food, bad idea, we had these spring rolls which looked lush but were horrible and so not cooked :L....im never eating a spring roll again lol. We then went for a wonder and sat down and so on, by this time we'd managed to lose our group so there was only 4 of us left so as the sun was coming up we headed back.
The next day we woke up hungry and hungover and to some more beautiful sunshine so went for lunch at this amazing little cafe and then sunbathed and once again another nap lol. In the evening we all went to the bar to say our goodbyes, watch some weird thai film and have conversations with the bar man about becoming a monk. Then the next day we got up early...5am :( and boarded the boat to Koh Tao.
