Andy to the Healer
Half of the group ventured off to the healer yesterday afternoon after doing a cleansing ceremony at the Water Temple that I have traditionally done for the past two years. Always invigorating, inspiring and even emotional.
For the healer we had a great group because Rob, Deon, and Marcia were there. Just a few of the people on the trip know about Andy's cancer and all of these people have supported Andy or me.
This is the same healer that Michael and I saw last year and had a very intimate experience with. Several people went before Andy and I could tell that the group was anticipating Andy's turn. The healer -- Tijokorda Rai is 83 years old, he sits in a chair and has each patient come and sit in front of him on the floor with their back pressed up against his knees. He begins to 'massage' the scalp and then puts his fingers in the ears. The whole time his facial expressions intonate that he is sensing something -- energy? It's as if he is beginning to connect with the person on a different level picking up clues as to what is going on physically and/or mentally with each individual. Immediately he said Andy had very low power. He said he must have experienced some sort of shock or a trauma in his early life.
He went on to say that this is a time where he must begin to understand what he must do. And that was to stop reading and begin practicing. He said put the books away in the 'closet'. No more reading needs to be done.
He asked Andy what he did -- the first thing that came to my mind is that Andy really doesn't 'do' anything besides work on taking care of himself. Instead, as I've heard Andy do more than a couple of times on this trip, he launched off into his plan to move to Berkeley as soon as he gets back home and to back to school to study at the Accupressure Institute in Berkeley. It's much more than accupressure, but also Chinese medicine, massage therapy and eastern healing modalities. Andy seems quite passionate whenever he speaks of this to anyone on the trip.
The healer emphasized over and over again how Andy needed to 'make active your practice' that he needed to 'open the door' to his healing and 'loose his imagination' and stay connected with himself in order to heal himself. He keep emphasizing practice over and over again. Practice healing on himself and others. He also told him to eat more and eat when drinking water, otherwise it will just sweat out from you.
He said he must balance himself out, that if he could attain that, there would be 'many power' from him. (His command of the english language is somewhat limited.)
Another thing that he told him to do was to look in the mirror and smile at himself, love himself and then swallow the smile and feel the smile in his solar plexus. I interrupted it as feeling love for himself. The session seemed over after that and we had begun to walk away and then he called Andy back and wanted him to lay down again and then said that there was something going on with his liver and gallbladder -- which is interesting given that Andy always complains of a swollen liver after eating.
He then told Andy a story about himself. He said that he was once very, very sick, close to death, and went to see many many healers that were not able to help him. He came home and thought that he was going to die, but he decided that he could somehow heal himself and he set out to do that. He has now lived a very long life. A healers journey --
