So following an over night stay in Santa Cruz we landed in La Paz.... amazing landing one might say.... landing on top of a mountain with a dodgy pilot who bounced along the runway...!
Picked up from the airport by the hostel and an intersting car journey eventually got us to Loki La Paz....
La Paz... what can I say... Hills Steps and Altitude Fecking Altitude....!
Caught up with Pie and Brian again and i wont deny it a few beverages were consumed for old times sake!
DAy 2wednesday 5th Nov. San PEdro Prison Tour.
Following a few hours sleep we went to San Pedro Prison for the tour. Due to riots and Protests we had to go to the local side instead of the International side. Got t love the fact the inmates are everything... ie inmates and guards...! we had our inmate tour guide and 3 inmate body guards.... an experience one might say...!
The prison is like a little village inmates with there families so 2000 inmates with all there wives and kids. Self contained village with church hospital gyms and resturants and cocaine factory.... what more does one need who is locked up for murder!
Il be honest i was glad there was a group of us as the effects of the night before subsided , realisation of where we were and what we were doing set in...! 3 hours later and presents of lolly pops and naggans of whiskey and vodka later we were released back to civilisation.
Thurs 4th Nov. Brians Bday
A productive day of leaving the hostel, shopping and seeing a bit of the city we dolled ourselves up for a splash out meal and night out for the Bdays. Hotel Presendente was the location of choice. Fab resturant on 16th floor of hotel.- fantastic view of the whole of la paz... backpackers we are not. then again a fantastic location and fantastic food and plenty of drink for bout 10 Euro .... you cant go wrong.
Plan next is Salt Flats so we are heading to Uyuni on saturday to start 3 day tour on Sunday morning.
Next stop Uyuni.
