I'm currently in bed in our hotel I managed to exhaust yet another book in 4 days so as I don't have a book to read right now, I'm writing in this!
Rio's been good so far, I've managed to catch up on much needed lost sleep and become well again!
On the sunday afternoon we got here we dropped luggage at the 'Ipanema Plaza Hotel' and then went to visit Ce's Mum (Dad's girlfriend Ce is brazillian and arrived there a few days before us) where we were offered wonderous chocolate cake but I had to refuse as I was still ill, which broke my tummy's heart! THen we went up to visit Christ Redeemed, it was really impressive and we managed to get some funny pictures (although I may not be going to heaven after them..). ALl due to my brain power I like to add! Even though Tom nicked all my poses. We were extremely tired so after Christ we showered and went for a pizza. We'd just finished eating when this homeless lad walked past our table and asked for the remains of our food, he was really polite and discreet so we have him it. Bless him! The next day Dad had meetings so after a much needed 13 hour sleep (which I managed to sleep all the way through - sure sign I was on the way to recovery!) Tom and I ate then lazed on the beack. It's winter here so it's not really hot but still warmer then our summers! Anyway a guy walked past who I recognised and relaised it was the homeless pizza guy, he recognised us too and gave us a big smile and a thumbs up, dead cute I thought!
Tuesday was really quite chilly so we decided to go with Dad and Ce to the meetings but instead of going into them we wandered around the area, which was interesting but cold! Well I say cold it was 18/19c which I now find freezing and have to wear hoodies in. This travelling's turned me tropical! (Mum be keeping now, the heating wil definitely have to come on before November this year!!)
Yesterday was another lazy day on mine and Tom's behalf, it consisted of the beach, eating, the beach and then actually to give myself some credit I did go on the treadmill for half an hour! At night we went to a large mall to grab some quick din dins and go see The Butterfly Effect 3. Tom and I got some pick n mix which cost a bomb! We were fleeced. So it's not that different to the UK really! The film was okay, a bit too gorey and scary for my liking though.
Finally we come to today, Thursday. Which has been quite eventful! Tom and I strolled through the morning then when Dad came back at 11.30ish form a meeting said today would be a good day for a helicopter ride! (was highs of 32c, that's more my new living temperate.. ;)) So we made our way over to 'Sugar Loaf' (big mountain thing) and booked mine and Tom's helicopter ride! It lasted 10 minutes and consisted of a whiz round Christ, Ipanema and Copacabana beach, sugar loaf and the lagoon. It was an amazing experience! Got some really good photos too and beautiful weather for it. After that Dad and Ce had to rush to another meeting so Tom and I went to get ourselves lunch which proved to be quite hilarious! We wanted 1 cheese sandwhich, 1 cheese burger and 2 Fantas, then suddenly 2 'natural sandwiches' (whatever they are!) appeared on the list, obviously wasn't down to our perfect Portuguese ;). Anyway that got sorted out and we had our lunch, Tom's burger was straight from a microwave and my 'sandwich' cane only be described as a cheesey / savoury marshmellow. It was completely strange! Then wasps appeared left right and center, Tom was wafting paper plates, I was running and screaming, the locals were watching us like we were from another planet! Then the wasp plopped into my Fanta, much to my disappointment. So another Fanta was bought (where I was brainy enogh to invent a 'Fanta condom' to stop wasps getting in my Fanta!) and we also bought a much needed pud each to comfort ourselves. The puds turned out to be rather poo as well, so overall wasn't very fulfilling.
Anyway! We went back down the cable cars and back to our hotel to change into swimmers and hit the beach. Very nice! Meanwhile Dad was being interviewed for a report on DreamAid in a top Brazillian newspaper. TOm and I arrived just in time to witness an incredibly cheesy photoshoot of him being carried out. Much to our amusement!
So tonight we went with Ce's mum for a pizza which was yummy and then back to the hotel. Tomorrow morning we fly to Sao Paulo to do some DreamAid stuff and have to get up at 6.30am!! Horrendous.
Oh, by the way I did get better from my stomach bug. Sunday (day of arrival) I managed 1 & 1/2 meals which seemed to stay where they should do, so by Monday I had diagnosed myself cured and was back to eating chocolate :)! Although it was 4 full days without eating, a record on my behalf.
I was meant to be arriving home tomorrow but decided to stay 1 week longer. So at approximately 16.10 on the 14th August I will of landed in Manchester after being away since the 23rd of June. Feels weird but exciting to be going home and I've already developed a food list (Mum if you're taking note..): hula hoops, ham sandwiches, white bread buns, margarine, tommy k, gravy, baked beans, kit kats & last but by no means least, cadburys. In fact I want to bathe in Cadbury's chocolate!
Anyway I've got to be up in 6 1/2 hours D:
Nanight lots of love
Eve xxxx <3
p.s Just remembered more for my list, mash & cheese. In fact cheesey mash sounds perfecto :)
