...to pick up from where we left off on the previous post, the train ride to Chqndigarh was indeed very smooth in the first class of the Shatabdi.
Little did we know that the tough part was yet to come...the bus ride! It takes 10 hours for the bus to go from Chandigarh to Manali.
Once in Chandigarh we swum through the multitude of people to reach an "official" taxi rank.
On the taxi we bargained 50rupees off the total price for no AC during the journey...not the cleverest of ideas.
Chandigarh bus station was a huge hot dirty structure, with people laying everywhere. We even went for the toilet experience which entailed crossing a crowd of sleeping people to get to a common filthy hole. All refreshed by the experience we tried to get on the right bus which turned out not to leave from the bus station as a fool would expect, but from a petrol station in the middle of nowhere. An amazing guy revealed us the secret at the very last minute so we managed to rush there and get on THE BUS. (this by the way involved running across an Indian dual carriageway with all of our luggage!)
Constant random attempts to overtake to then lock the breaks or squeeze between the trucks coming from the oppiante way, people puking, monsoon heavy rain, breath taking views over the kullu valley, several thoughts of sudden death : this was our 10h bus trip to Manali-a journey we are proud we undertook and kind of happy not having to take it again...Now in Manali chilling out in a cherry tree garden- more updates shortly!

babbo Ciao Bimbi!
Nick Traffic, puking people and sharing filthy communal holes...sounds very much like y'average SachaNovak gig venue :)
