Ed's Travels
Hello again. as yu will probably see there is a big agp in my entries between Chivay and Puno. I have just spent the last 45 mintes updating it just for the computer to crach just as i was about to save it. i cannot be bothered at the moment to type it all again but if i get some free time in cusco i might try and get it back up to date.
I am in Puno at the moment and have just returned from Lake Titicaca where we spent last night staying with locals on the Island of Amantani. We spent yesterday visiting 2 islands on the lake. The first on we visited was the island of Tequille. This was around a 3 hour boat trip from the port in Puno. I did not realise just how big the lake was. At times it was like we were at sea because all you could see was water and in some directions you could not see land on the horizon.
Anyway we arrived at the island of Taquille at about midday where we had to wall an hour up a steep path to reach to main square of the village. Here we were ushered into a restaurant where we were served the island typical meal which was soup to start followed by fried trout from the lake. Needless to say it was really good food for practically nothing. After lunch we were given time to look around the village. The thing that really srtuck me was the local dress. Thet still wear there traditional dress which was absolutely stunning.
After lunch we hopped back on to the boat for the short trip over to the Island of Amantani where we would have out homestay.
As my computer has just crashed again and i have lost my next chunk about the homestay you will just have to wait for me to update the photos as i am losing my patience with this computer.
I am in Puno at the moment and we leave for Cusco tomorrow. We have just heard that ther e has been a large landslide at the top of the trail which cannot be passed so it might turn out that we oulny do a two day hike and then stay in Aqus Calientes for a night before getting a bus up to Machu Pichu. We will find out exactly what the plan is when we get to Cusco.
Its great to hear that everone is well and that lambibg is going well. Can you ask richar d again to get in touch if remebers where he stayed in Auckland as i need to book a place pretty soon.
I will write again soon.
